Food was good. Service was unbearably slow. At the end of a long day in Normandy and six hours on a bus we just wanted dinner. Our entree (appetizers) came out slow (should have been a red flag) then an HOUR after we FINISHED then...entree our dinners came out.More

The onion soup was great, the pâté was so delicious that we bought some jars of it and brought them home. The one problem was the boeuf Bourguignon. There were a ton of big pieces and they were all tough. This was a big problem,...but everything else was great. Make sure you have a reservation.More

Terrible service, extremely rude people working there. A no go, there are many many places serving exactly the same kind of food in every corner.

A happy place. I’m sensitive to noise but the energy here is full of enthusiasm. No nonsense or froufrou just fine and friendly service and super, truly French food. Onion soups, terrine de compagne, perfectly prepared lamb loin and boeuf tartare, chocolate mousse (egg whites...not yolks for lightness), a generous cheese plate and grand pichet of Mercurey all for Eu 112. You won’t beat this. Unobtrusively in a corner, Gautrand’s “Paris Mon Amour “ is for sale. How fitting! !More

Restaurant was very busy. Waiters were a bit stressed and people would jump ahead in line and waiters would seat them! You had to be aggressive to be seated. So we were a party of 4 and a waiter asked if we minded be seated...across the street in a bookstore. We said we did not so we were seated in a book shop. Service was good and our food was served hot. Food was in general good but our beef bourgeon was tough. Onion soup was good.More

We nearly dropped into a tranche which is at least 1 metre deep. The restaurant sat customers on metal sheets covering a dug tranche outside of their door. No safety care of their customers. After we nearly fell into the tranche while eating, no one...asked if we are hurt, no one talked to us. The waiters are the rudest we encountered in our last four trips in Paris. From what we can see is that this restaurant cares nothing about their customers, even safety, only care about making more money from tourists. They clearly know they shouldn’t sit customers there, because they immediately put fence up after our accident. Do not go.More

The staff here do not care for your comfort or safety. Today, the temporary surface they had seated roughly 20 guest on collapsed while we sat on it, dropping my wife and the family next to us into a trench (a metre deep) that the...surfacing was covering over. It’s pretty telling they knew they shouldn’t be seating people there, as almost immediately a chap began constructing a fence around it. They knew and they still chose to seat people there, clearly just trying to maximise profit. Disgusting behaviour. No one checked if we were ok, or hurt, we were simply ushered inside to finish eating our distinctly average and overpriced lunch. Do not eat here unless you know how to deal with rude waiters, are willing to put your life in these yahoos hands, are looking for food that should cost half as much and there is literally no where else to go. Even then, don’t go.More

The waiters are extremely rude, they yelled at customers twice in front of me. Do not recommend at all.

Great atmosphere whether you're sitting inside or out. Friendly waitstaff, and a fantastic onion soup for starters.

We came here because one site said it had very good onion soup. We got a reservation for lunch. The place was extremely crowded and noisy on a Friday. We waited to get a menu and finally one of us got up to ask for...one. After some minutes a rather surly waiter plopped them down and walked off. We waited another ten minutes for someone to come over and no one did. Despite being tired and hungry, we were disgusted and left. We noticed a couple at a nearby table had done the same. So who knows about their onion soup, and frankly who cares? The worst service in Paris in memory. Their menu seemed overpriced. And also the place was full of tourists, so if you like a restaurant for locals, don't go here.More

It was a day in Paris during our short stay when it did not stop raining. Les Philosophes proved to be a cosy and welcoming lunchtime stop. To us it appeared very French Parisienne ambiance with many diners comfortable with their afternoon rendezvous or solitary...refreshment. Our meal was the lunchtime special of duck breast and mashed carrots, a simple but well cooked offering accompanied by a carafe of morish white wine followed by good espresso. Service impecable and polite.More

The ambience is great, but overall the food is only ok, not to say a bit meh. It lacks flavour and was not presented great, unfortunately. It just don't make justice for the price. I went there with 1 more person, we shared an entree...and ordered 1 main dish each, plus 45cl bottle of wine. With the 80 euros we paid, we could had a much better meal in other bistros.More

We had a great dinner here. I order the lamb loin and my wife had the salmon. We also had onion soup. Everything was great! The wait staff (I think he had tattoos) was excellent in their service and fluent in English. Although the place...looks touristy, it still has the authentic french brasserie vibe. We will definitely return here in future and recommend it to others. Merci.More

My husband and I were only in Paris for the weekend and we were looking for a French traditional cuisine thinking we would turn up to a really nice restaurant. Well this was not the case at all, I can’t even begin to tell you...how vile the food was. I got the duck which was so dry but the rest of the food was so bland and not worth any where near €25 per dish. If you are looking for a nice restaurant please don’t go here. The restaurant it self is very small and dirty.More

In the peculiar Marais you can find this venue which is worth it a visit, even only for a cheese selection and a glass of Morgon. Enjoy!

I am not 100% sure if they are open on Christmas Day. I would hazard to guess that they probably are open. Most of the top restaurants in the city will be open -- Le Bristol, Le Meurice, Joel Robuchon, etc. I would suggest... More
