For me, this type of Chinese cooking was entirely new. Fresher, spicier and much more delicious. We especially enjoyed the crispy duck pancakes, steamed fish, chili beef and prawns served on a bed of rice noodles. I can't wait to go back and plan to...do so very soon! It also seemed like excellent value - we tried multiple starters and main course dishes and only paid €35 a head, and that was including wine.More
We go there more than twice a month , the owner and their children are very friendly and attentive to our needs.
They have a numerous Chinese customer base which indicates the food is not too europeanized.
The chive salad is unusual, very fresh with...a pungent dressing
The ear mushroom salad is milder and very tasty.
The steamed fish and 2 chilis is our favorite ; the tilapia is cooked to perfection and the sauce id delicious
The such speciality is an inventive take on being duck it is well thought out and a true refined way of eating!
the lamb with cumin is to die for
all seafood is delicately cooked and paired with strong flavors
I recommande this place for lovers of Chinese like at home cookingMore
This was a different experience for us. We were the only non-Chinese there ( I won't say Westerners because my husband is Filipino, and I am French), but the place filled up as soon as it opened, on a Tuesday night.
The menu was difficult...to navigate. The stories and illustrations might be interesting, but I have low vision and my husband doesn't speak French. Two of the dishes we might have ordered had to be ordered 24 hours in advance, so that was out. We ended up both having the Five-Mushroom soup, which was out of this world good. I had the crispy duck and he had the pepper steak with fried rice. Both were excellent and the portions were hood size. I could have used more sauce with my duck.
Service was Ok although the servers were difficult to understand. The older male server showed some impatience, while my husband's main course came long after mine and he had to be reminded. We had asked for everything to be served at once, as Asians usually eat their soup ad their meal together. That didn't happen, the soup showed up first, and alone. The young waitress was very nice.
I would think the experience would improve if we went back and knew what to expect.More
I can't understand why this restaurant has such a note.
I went there because I read that the crispy duck was excellent.
Well I tried and it was by far the worst I've ever had. I'm not even sure it was duck.
The dumplings were...frozen and pretty disgusting.
And it's very expensive.
Don't go there!More
After two weeks in Lyon and Burgundy, we thought let's try who can deliver and satisfy us with culinary quality after all those great meals we had. The chef of L'Orient d'Or could. Gathering with a few local friends here, who had not been at...this restaurant either, we had a thoroughly pleasant dinner, with a variety of at least to us unknown dishes and were very satisfied with the quality and taste.
Price value relation is excellent and not for nothing this restaurant is recommended by the Michelin guide as well.More
Distinctly average food compared to the Chinese restaurants in the U.K. and UAE.
The 'stand out' dish was the bacon chilli dish. Everything else we ate was well below par: chilli chicken, crispy duck, fried duck, pork & noodles, and Chinese vegetables.
The service and...decor left a lot to be desired.More
I think this place may be slightly overrated but the raviolis aux crevettes (shrimp dumplings) were among the best I've ever had so that alone makes me want to return. Service was excellent and they happily package leftovers which is a nice bonus.
