The ice cream is amazing. Try and avoid busy times by shopping a little on the adorable street and waiting till the line dies down. The line does move quickly, we made our way over to the island twice :)

After seeing incredible reviews and hearing from insiders that this was the place to go for the best ice cream, I decided to try it out. We went for a sit down ice cream and drink. We waited for half an hour for someone to take our order, then an hour for our ice cream to come. An hour!? I... More

It was an amazing ice cream. We tried to try ice creams wherever we can reach and it was among the best ones. Highly recommended to people who are even not an ice cream fan. I would like to eat it every time, I visit Paris. Everything displays in french so you have to self-dependent to understand the flavor. Whatever... More

Be careful If you plan to go to the Dotre-Dame area and want to top it off by the famious ice cream of Berthillon Glacier in July..... we made a long walk tour to Berthillon Glacier and then we found a sign on the door that they are closed for an annual holiday until some time in August. Before you... More

Had the pleasure of lovely ice creams from Betrhillon in May on a family trip to Paris. It is about three minutes walk from the back of the Notre Dame. Look out for the Pharmacy Green cross and then head down the lovely side street that is located to the right of it. We had a variety of flavours, strawberry,... More

We caught the ice cream stand outside the cafe at a great time in the day before a large rush; we had researched the ice cream prior to our visit and we were not disappointed. We each got a different variety of chocolate each is distinct and delicious. Other cafes do serve their brand of ice cream, most of which... More

Afternoon ice cream stops became a daily occurrence on our Summer visit to Paris. We kept our eyes out for any cafes selling the Berthillion ice creams. We did stop at the store on Île Saint-Louis, and then strolled along the Seine enjoying the caramel goodness.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
