Fantastic Food in Fontainebleau!

Delicious lunch in the picturesque town center of Fontainebleau (very short walk from the chateau). The waitstaff was very friendly, the outdoor seating had a great view of the street, and the food was very good. I had a delicious dish of the day, along with (my first ever) fabulous Café Gourmand. Very great lunch!

I didn't take a picture. Pleasant staff friendly and especially quality products. We ate a rib of beef, it was very tender and cooked to perfection. All the other dishes looked very appetizing too. For tourists, it is not far from the castle. Little tip, going to this restaurant allows parking on parking lots a little further from the castle, it remains accessible on foot, but much cheaper.

We had ordered a beef side but wanted two different cookings (blue and on point): no problem some pieces were blue and others could be annealed on point. It was delicious and the service is Leader without ostentation. It is a nice and pleasant place where I will gladly return. Small downside: the toilets are not always maintained but well equipped.

Very bad experience: Too busy and out of control for the people working there. We did not receive the food at the same time, out of two beef steaks ordered medium rare, one was undercooked and the other cooked completely through -sent the latter out, and received instead an almost raw piece of meet, mostly inedible. Throughout the whole meal we had to work hard to get any attention, and the water and the check had to be asked for twice. It was a relief to finally get out of the place.

Restaurant not to do! We live in Fontainebleau and we can say that there is much better. It's just very unpleasant to spend a moment here, in this temple of "Mal Bouffe" and not expect a smile except the frozen one from the poor petrified young girl who welcomes you with her card in her hands. You will find at the “friends bistro” only enemies of good, healthy and friendly cuisine. Dispatched service, kidney without any flavor and the freshness is questioned because it has a very bad taste, leg of lamb... dried out because the dish is overcooked, even the pasta (Lasagna) is certainly not homemade to obtain such a taste ! How can such a simple dish not be good? We won't even talk about wine! A piece of advice: Go your own way. I will come back but only to take the forgotten facade photo.

The place seemed nice, but we quickly became disillusioned. We start with a kir with a weird taste. The prawn pan which consists of 5 overcooked prawns without seasoning. Only the puree is good. The andouillette is really not great and the mustard sauce has almost no taste. Very expensive for the quality!! We didn't get as far as trying dessert!

We went to a friends' bistro to celebrate my wife's birthday. What a disappointment...the waiter (who smelled strongly of alcohol) implied things to her, which I didn't appreciate. The boss should be concerned about the respect of his employees towards his customers. We will not come back.

Restaurant which deserves to be mentioned in the Michelin and Gault et Millau guides. We had dinner there 2 evenings The cuisine is worthy of a little gastro. Everything is excellent from starter to dessert. The dining room staff are very welcoming, very pleasant and very professional. If you are passing through Fontainebleau, do not hesitate to discover this restaurant, you will be sure to have a great time. Sunday lunch in Fontainebleau at the Bistrot des Amis. The welcome is correct and we sit in the dining room, it is a little too cold on the covered terrace. The service is okay; we choose the beef cheek, perfectly cooked and presented. The gourmet coffee is a little light, not like the bill but we are in Fontainebleau. Ultimately the whole thing is correct, nothing more.

Dish ordered with asparagus. On arrival 2 green beans which fight a duel and no asparagus. Not even the coffee offered as compensation for a dish at 26 euros qd even. They will see us again, and not even one at see again at the end very disappointed.

This is a typical bistrot in a city - nice location. The food was simply well above expectation. The magret de canard and the slow cooked lamb shoulder - simply excellent. bottle of well priced auxey duress amazing and an honest mark up on it's cost.
