I visited Le Grain de Sel last week with a friend who wanted to restore my faith in French cuisine. I believe that the UK has better as French food had become too pretentious and lacking in imagination... for me it was UK all the way. Its Italian... I told them when we arrived... have faith they said! Le Grain... More

We were in Chaumont around lunch time while on a long drive and we're glad we found this place. We had a wonderful meal and at a very reasonable price (less than 40 euros the two of us) and since the portions are so large, it was great value. The food was fresh (i.e. not coming out of a plastic... More

We found this restaurant by chance and noticed it seemed popular with local people. The food was superb and the their was a lovely relaxing ambience. You can even eat in the garden at the back

We must have missed the normal chef. Our cook thought it was ok to serve raw prawns. When we very politely asked for them to be cooked, they were huffily whisked away only to be returned, still grey and uncooked. The good news was that the lashings of fruit salad that comprised the main component of each of our four... More

My first time in Chaumont and I looked at Tripadvisor's reccomendations and was very pleased with the result. My colleague and I had a very enjoyable meal that satisfied every one of our senses in an atmosphere that was relaxed and most enjoyable. The food was well balanced, tasty and served with a presentation that was extremely colourful and attractive.... More

We shared a lovely meal with our daughter here. She and I had excellent pizza which I believe was only €8 for a small. My husband had a pasta dish which was excellent and stunning to look at. We all shared the dessert combo which was simply amazing.

Ended overnighting in Chaumont on the way home and found this gem of a restaurant in the centre of town. The quality and quantity of the food was excellent, well presented and very tasty. The house wine was of good quality and everything was reasonably priced for the quality of the products (many locally sourced). Would definitely stop there again.

We stayed down the road in rhe Hotel de France but didn't fancy their restaurant. A brief walk around the town revealed this small restaurant which looked the most attractive option. The menu is substantial with a wide range of salads, meat and fish dishes as well as pizzas. The wine list was perhaps less impressive though perfectly adequate. The... More
