Japanese with french touches. Reliably delicious and interesting. This must have been our 6th or 7th trip over the years. Small restaurant. Service so friendly, personal and good. Our favourite restaurant in the world!

Last evening of our holiday and booked places at this highly rated restaurant. A very small restaurant, just two tables for two and twelve places at the counter observing the cooking. Everything can be watched closely. The ingredients being prepared, cooked and presented on the...plate. The wine’s carefully opened and checked by smell and taste before serving. Very capable proprietors doing everything. Menu board carefully explained. We selected four dishes from the sixteen offered. All to share. Attractive wine list reflecting Burgundy prices. We had a delicious dry and flinty white from a village we had cycled through earlier in the day. After two hours sitting shoulder to shoulder along the counter on hard chairs lost its charm. We had enjoyed three of our four courses. Over the next 30 minutes I watched four dishes of scallops cooked and served. Our last dish. We finished our wine as these scallops were all served to other couples. The chef started preparing other dishes for the full complement of diners. Realising our scallops were not about to be served anytime soon I’m afraid I called for the bill. Leaving early the next morning staying half hour or more was not attractive. Our host was very apologetic and charged us for what we had. The food was good, the working kitchen interesting and the wine excellent. On another evening I would have been more relaxed about timings. I think I now prefer sitting at a table and having food served to me. I can see reputation of La Lune is well earned.More

We’ve been coming to this restaurant on every trip to France- usually every year ( every non-Covid year) in fact, we come to BEAUNE specifically for the incredible experience one has dining here with Julien and Seiichi at La Lune. These two work so well...together it’s like watching a highly choreographed dance as they perform their magic. Julien is an expert with wine recommendations and how he manages the multiple orders of every table is a mystery to me- does not write down any orders. The menu consists of many small plates but any of them can be increased to be a dinner portion. Julien seems to know just how much your table will need. The vast array of options is delightful and delicious- a party for your taste buds. Truly innovative cuisine. Seiichi is a master chef. Can’t recommend enough. Every time we come, the experience is better than the last time. Thank you,Julien and Seiichi.More

I this restaurant weeks in advance after seeing it on Tripadvisor as the top restaurant in Beaune. We were on a biking trip and this was one of our last places to visit. We booked for 7pm and the place was closed when we got...there. The roller shutter was half open so we walked in and was greeted by Julien one of the two owners. He was very friendly and explained all the menu in great detail. It was good to sit and watch the food being cooked in front of you. It got very busy as the night went on. We where there for over 2 hours, but it was part of the experience. The food was not all that special really. You pay for the joy of watching what goes on more than anything. Only 2 persons doing everything is a joy to watch. Dont think we would return again.More

A truly good restaurant. The food was great and also exciting, the service very friendly and the suggested wines were spot-on. All this at a very moderate price level.

Truly amazing. Two professionals take care of the whole restaurant (20 seats). Fresh and exciting served with care. MUST HAVE RESERVATIONS! Don’t expect to walk on in. The food is worth it. Chalk board menu changes daily. A great experience beginning to end.

La Lune was definitely a trip highlight - our favorite restaurant in France. Everything was fabulous! Julien was very welcoming and helped us with the menu. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the chef in action. Each dish could be increased or decreased...in size, depending on the number of people in your party. If you’re visiting Beaune, do not miss this place. It is outstanding.More

What an incredible experience La Lune was from my first contact to the end of our meal. Julien was so friendly and accommodating on contact before the date as we had a small dog with us and were celebrating my daughters birthday. All contact before...the booking day was kind and helpful. Once we were there it only got better. Juliens welcoming friendly manner makes you feel right at home. He explained the menu beautifully and answered any questions we had. Also accommodated one of us who has a dairy intolerance. The food was just outstanding but what put every dish over the top was the chefs skill with sauces……just wow. Definitely a Japanese influenced menu and I could not say enough good things about it. I highly recommend this outstanding restaurant, not only for its food but the wonderful service from Julien. Thank you for a memorable way to celebrate our daughters birthday. We will absolutely return if we are ever on the area again.More

This was an amazing dining experience. The food was delicious, the service exemplary, and prices reasonable. Sit at the bar and watch a true master at work. And Julien does a great job welcoming you, explaining the menu and the service experience. And it is...an experience. Everything we tasted was delicious. The menu is a bit eclectic, though we enjoyed everything.More

En route to Nice, we stayed in Beaune and ate here. Fabulous fusion food, very flexible menu (ie. main courses could be downsized into starters and vice versa). Huge wine list with loads of local producers. Maitre d’ (Julian) speaks very good English and is...a great host. Highly recommended.More

Exceptional restaurant. Imaginative French-Japanese fusion dishes, local seasonal ingredients, tapas style dishes, all served in a charming and friendly setting. Just perfect. Be sure to book as the restaurant is tiny.

At this place almost everything is perfect. Very friendly and kind people, actually two persons , Mr. Julien and the cook ( Sorry don’t know his name). No visit of Beaune without a dinner at the La Lune. Be aware early booking is recommended.

We arrived in Beaune tired from 16 hours of flying and a 4-hour drive from Paris to Beaune. La Lune made everything all right. Our multi-course dinner was amazing. We chose mostly fish dishes with one main course of sweetbreads, and everything was delicious and...innovative. Our host was warm and friendly, and explained each course. He helped us to choosethe perfect white wine as well. A great start to our vacation.More

Use Facebook messenger to contact Julian or email them. I know they are not open for lunch. I don’t recall which days they are closed.

This is a very small restaurant. I would call the owners/mgr ahead of time to make sure.
