We ate here on a Saturday night and found the food and service to be very good. The fixed price menu had the usual Burgundy specialties, although the a la carte menu seemed not to include them. The wine list was extensive, as you would expect at such a place. A thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Initially we were going to have dinner at a different restaurant but were persuaded to try Le Cheval Noir instead. What a great decision that was! When we arrived we found a stylish restaurant that did NOT have tables jammed side by side - uncommon in this day and age. There are many 'foodie' reviews for Cheval Noir on TA...... More

Nice restaurant next to the city wall. High ambitions in the kitchen - mostly lived up to. Modern french cuisine. Moderate prices for the quality. Recommended. Quality = +3 (out of 5) My rating = 4 (out of 5 and in relation to the level of quality)

We arrived later than our reserved time, but the restaurant still kept the table for us - it was a Sunday evening (many restaurants do not open on Sunday) - really graceful!! The food was very well presented and tasty! Actually, it was a nice surprise to us. (FYI, we finished our lunch at a Michelin started restaurant on the... More

This was our last dinner in Beaune following 4 day wine tour, we had a 4 course meal which included lobster and chorizo, mozzarella starter, followed by pigeon as the main course, cheese ice creams/soufflé dish and then creme brûlée, the meal was accompanied by various wines chosen by our tour guide. Ideal restaurant for a celebration dinner impeccable service.

We ate here in a group of 20 at the end if a wine tour. The waiting staff were really good, and nothing appeared too much of a problem with requests for seafood free, gluten free, nut free, dairy free, caffeine free etc. The food was beautifully presented and imaginative.

We had a lunch menu for one and shared it as it was pretty consistent in Beaune that the portions were large enough. Had a seafood appetizer (amazing) with red pepper sorbet and a duck main course. The wine list is on the pricey side (only bottles) offered, wine by the glass is their choice, not yours... But still pretty... More

Lots of reviewers say how great this restaurant is. I disagree with them somewhat. It is a good restaurant with very imaginative food. The eggs on red wine sauce were excellent as was the fish tartare. Pigeon and steak mains were good but not spectacular. However, I have a considerable criticism of the food in that everything seemed to come... More

Great pitstop near the motorway. We had the 30 euro menu with a fine bottle of local wine. Decent sized portions mixed with muse en bouche. Nice little terrace

we had an excellent dinner at le cheval noir in Beaune. We were 5 friends and tried different menus. They have an extensive wine list focusing of course on burgundy wines. the food was creative and sophisticated and the presentation was well made. starter, dish and dessert were all excellent. The portion of each dish were large, even too large,... More
