This restaurant cooked steaks on a grill over coals from an open fire and had a wood fired oven as well. Did not go for their signature steak but the smaller entrecote which was perfectly cooked along with their specialty potatoes from the wood fired oven. Felt like a home cooked meal which is great when eating out just about... More

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel receptionist but our expectations were not met. The food is ok but nothing to be positively surprised about. The portions are big if that is what you like. Service was decent.

We asked our hotel to recommend a restaurant serving typical food of the region and they suggested Saint Pelerin. We each opted for different offerings in the 3 course menu so got to sample the foie gras, escargot, monkfish wrapped in bacon, salmon, pear tarte and the cheese selection--and a bottle of lovely local wine. Everything was delicious. Really enjoyed... More

We stopped in Auxerre en route to the UK and had the most delightful meal in Le Saint Pelerin. Here are people who really understand fine local cuisine. The foie gras de maison was delicious and the veal kidneys cooked perfectly. Disappointed that the chocolate fondant had run out, we had a selection of local cheese that were so beautifully... More

Ate here on a saturday night at the end of January. We had pre booked using my finest french (!!!!) and we were not let down. Although it was the end of January, it was busy, so it was good that we booked. There were a selection of set menu prices and I think we had the four course choice... More

We fell on this place by chance while walking around Auxerre. What a great find. The staff were all helpful and friendly while maintaining efficiency. The menu was fairly limited but what we ate was of excellent quality. The wine list was pretty good too. Overall a gem hidden away near the centre of Auxerre

Le Saint Pelerin is one street removed from the Yonne. The food is excellent. Some of the interior decoration is tacky but somehow it still feels right: As everywhere in Burgundy it seems, the wine is expensive and you end up paying €100 for two menues a bottle of wine and two aperitif.

The menu choice was not large, but was a good range. all was perfectly cooked and presented. Lunch times it gets fully booked, so we ate in the evening, and for a rainy May evening it was till reasonably busy. Our 2, three course meals with a bottle of wine and Martini to start was 84€,

The owner has no sense of service or accomodation to his clients and their needs and wishes. We had a reservation but we knew within minutes of arriving that we were not welcome. We were relegated to the back room (behind the kitchen!) where there was virtually no-one - and past many free tables out front. We asked for a... More
