Have been lunching at LeChateaubriant for many years and felt a review was due It is a traditional French commercial restaurant, usually packed with a mix of business and leisure clients The food is delicious, not avant garde just straightforward simple dishes, the veg is always perfectly cooked and the menu de jour lunch at 16.90 euros is a bargain I don't think... Quietly efficient, a variety of food on offer, all beautifully presented. Ours was a joy to eat. We have booked a table for dinner tonight.

We looked for a good restaurant to have lunch at. The top restaurants have rather bizarre (for us, at least) closing days, like Tuesday and Wednesday, and we were in Autun on a Tuesday. Le Chateaubriant turned out to be a great alternative: very good food, and nice service. Prices more or less what you expect.

For our group, we visited some restaurant the last May in this little town of Autun, this is the best one! The owners are very kind, do not hesitate to request some advise for the choice of the local wines (Burgundy), they will submit to you the best combination between food and wine.

Like so many of the reviews report, this restaurant offers stunningly good food in what we (not being French) regard as French cuisine - fine ingredients and exciting, sumptuous sauces. Okay so sitting on the footpath on a side street in Autun is not the best possible location but that is more than made up for by the food and... More

This place certainly does not need another positive comment. But what is true is true: here you get very well prepared and pretty sophisticated dishes. These guys know how to cook, and they know it. This might be reason why they have a slightly arrogant attitude, but this is the only "semi-positive" point. Whatever you order, your palate will adore!... More

Each of our group of 10 people raved about their dinners. Those who ordered chateaubriand said it was the best they ever had. My frog legs were very good, prepared in a rather thick herb sauce. Deserts were delicious.

We crossed France specifically to visit Autun's magnificent cathedral. We booked accommodation at La Tete Noire and went out one evening to see what else was on offer. We came across this restaurant absolutely packed with local people and asked if they would be able to provide a meal (it was quite late at night). We had a delicious meal... More

We were getting a little frustrated in search of this apparent excellence French cooking until we stumbled on this place. The food is absolutely brilliant and faultless. We would have scored it 5/5 had it not been for the fact that the service was a bit 'iffy'. We actually ate at the restaurant twice (partly because there are only 3... More

Great restaurant , quality food reasonably priced (all being considered!) I copied below their specialties (with prices). Great welcome and conversation with chef/owner Eric . The setting in beautiful Autun right down town and close to the renowned cathedral is well worth the trip. The restaurant different rooms are tastefully decorated and "chic". The benefit of several rooms is to... More
