The menu was not very exciting but the quality of the food was surprisingly good. I loved the brandade. What I loved most about this place was the kids food. Not only was the food excellent it was served in a fun way (smiley face on the salmon, a kinder surprise egg with the elide cream). Also good service.

A fabulous evening meal - amazing meat dishes beautifully cooked with a great choice and selection. Everything cooked exactly how we asked with each dish well presented and plentiful. Gorgeous traditional puddings with friendly, helpful service and a good wine selection. Initial impressions were mixed as very busy and we thought the service would be a bit hit and miss....how... Months later and the boyfriend still can't stop raving about the chicken from Le Lion d'Or. This was by far the best meal we had in Saint Malo and a top three when thrown in with Paris. I had the house lamb, which was served piping hot in a pan with potatoes, carrots, and vine roasted cherry tomatoes, all in... More

St marlo has so many restaurants it's difficult to select but this one was fine. Pretty waitresses but very long queues for the toilets.

Ate here as a family group of 9 ages 3 to 68 plus one dog (though he didn't eat!) Our order ranged from starter of oysters to mains of a fish dish, chicken, steak and burgers all of which were very good though the steak man only gave it a good, the rest of us were well satisfied. Service was... More

A traditional place, full of personality, right in the heart of the old town. Great staff, great outfits and the biggest bowl of moules we've ever had. Kids loved it.

The problem with St Malo, is the main tourist Square is horrible. The tourist trap cafes, of which the Lion D'or is the best, are truly awful. They take their customers for granted. They truly believe, in the best spirit of French Socialism, that they are owed a living and the poor working class saps that stumble onto their premises... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends who live close to St Malo and it didn't disappoint. It is located just inside the walls of the old town and is a very picturesque part of the town. Although the restaurant was busy the staff were attentive and the service was pretty good. The menu was varied and all portions... More
