21st December 2015 on stop-over to Spain we stayed in Clermont Ferand, came across this bustling restaurant just off the main square. We could have dined street level, cosy and busy,we thought better & chose the relaxed very French cellar area as we had our small dog and it was quieter. Great staff, small menu, very clean ! Complimentary bread and water... More

A very nice place to go in Clermont. Menu isn't long but it is enough to have a taste of France. There is delicious fish, perfect beef or lamb and a wide choice of regional deserts. Portions are big enough to make you feel happy and satisfied. Surely worth visiting while in Clermont.

The unpretentious seating and simple presentation of this small bistro disguises the fact that the staff really know their wine and the chef knows the food of the region. The place was full of French people who had clearly been there before and though the staff were rushed off their feet everything was done to ensure that we all had... More

Before travelling anywhere I do my research and, as we were travelling with friends I wanted to be sure we would be well looked after, both in terms of service and food. I found Pile Poele and after reading reviews on here decided to put it on my 'must try' list. We got there a few hours before it opened... More

I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident, having made a unplanned stop in Clermont Ferrand with my wife and 4 year old twins. We ordered from the €21 set menu and a meal from the childrens menu which the table waiting staff were happy to serve between two kids. The food was served to our table very promptly, despite the... This restaurant was just round the corner from our hotel and was recommended to us. A good choice. The menu at 21 euros was copious and delicious- we had the terrine du jour which was scrumptious ( vegetables, nuts, prunes in a creamy mushroom sauce.) it would have been sufficient on its own but was followed by a huge coq... Now I accept that a massive thunderstorm can cause chaos, but to visit a restaurant where the power went off within 2 minutes of our arrival and the waiter just shrug and say 'I'll be back' would just make you laugh. However, when the waiter came back his manner was quite spectacularly bad. So much so that we gave up... More
