Excellent vegan Assiete des Legumes. Beautifully cooked and little additions. Half hour wait for them to cook it, so fresh. French vegan cuisine has leapfrogged UK from zero or boring to proper French cuisine. Wine list is tourist expensive. Ask for a pichet of rioja, reasonable wine and price. Was full on a cold night in January. We had to reserve a table in the afternoon for the evening. Obvs very popular.

Awful service from male waiter

Incredibly rude service from a male waiter. We asked for a green salad with some added tomatoes and he said it was not possible as tomatoes were not in season. The funny fact is that the chef recommendation for the day was an octopus salad WITH tomatoes! The worse thing is that this man talked to us in the most aggressive way even suggesting that if we did not like it we can also leave the water we’ve just order. Totally uncalled for and would refrain from going to this place if you want to keep a nice feeling from this beautiful town.

Sitting in front of “the kitchen” (in fact it’s the dish…) we enjoyed a platter of charcuterie oozing fat and tasteless as well as a platter of tapas served without a bit of sauce. A scoop of ice cream to wash that down? That’s fine… but it will be without the slightest teaspoon of whipped cream and even less Russian cigarette. In short, we fled this gastronomic misery.

Nice Ambience in St Jean de Luz

Stumbled across this bar, as it is on the periphery of the pedestrianised area in St Jean de Luz, while looking for somewhere to eat. I'm glad we did. Busy for a Thursday evening in early November which was a good sign with lots if friendly attentive staff. The food was excellent. I had a nice Piece du Boucher which was cooked to perfection. While my wife had the clams which were delightful. Washed down with some local beers A thoroughly enjoyable evening at 30 Euros a head

Can do better ! So no choice on the menu… we just have basic croque-Monsieur… fries, 1 mini glass of wine!! And if we don't have dessert we are urged to leave the table quickly... in short, nothing to do with an evening around Christmas where the menu and the welcome were nicer. Surely more choice when tourists are in the region? Damage . Will have to look elsewhere next time.
