Driving down to Portugal we stopped one night in Bordeaux. Searching for something French suitable for the whole family in 38 degree heat we found Chez Jean. All the food was good but the slow cooked pork melted in the mouth I urge any weary traveller to fortify yourself with this delicious dish. The staff were very accommodating especially as... More

Chez Jean offers a nice selection of local spacialities. The classics (duck, lamb, foie gras,...) are great, but the "little black pig" was excellent. Wine list is great, too.

What a great place to enjoy dinner in Bordeaux. Food was fantastic, covering a full range of tastes from Francophiles to French fries and burgers. We really enjoyed the Canard, the young velotouriste thought the burger deserved the "best ever" award. What was really great though was the superb staff, very helpful and worth stopping by.

Location in excellent for a tourist trip restaurant - which this is not entitely. Food was actually very decent. However the pace of the place is a bit stressful. The food was served too fast! But overall a very decent place.

Our hotel made a reservation here for us on one of the hottest, stickiest nights I can remember. We had a table on the terrace looking over the Place de Parlement which is great for people watching! The exact meals we had have been filed away in the memory to be honest - there were a lot of restaurant visits... More

I liked this restaurant for the good two course 15 euro lunch deal. It's very lively to sit on the Place de Parliament and watch all the soccer fans parade around. I had a white fish sashimi dish that was really nice and flavorful. Their strawberry cream cake dessert is terrific.

There are quite a few restaurants in the square but chose this one off the back of previous Tripadvisor positive recommendations which were spot on. We had an excellent 3 course plat du jour for €22. Our waiter was very friendly and funny and when it started raining very heavily made arrangements to move us inside. Great customer service!

We made a point of coming to Chez Jean for dinner, we were on our first night in Bordeaux, we were staying very close by and the restaurant had good reviews on Tripadvisor. We were really disappointed with the food we were served. The bone marrow was the simplest dish and was okay. The salmon japanese style starter was not... More

This little restaurant is well known in the area and is busy. Excellent seafood meal, friendly service, but felt a bit rushed. Get there before 7:30 if you want to get in without waiting. Outdoor seating on a lively plaza offers lots to see while you are eating. Reasonable prices for the area. Owner is friendly and welcoming. Street musicians... More
