We arrived one lunch time after venturing down and alley where a few people were sitting outside and found a table inside and were unsure about what we were to have. A waitress was soon at our table and happy to explain the menu in English as neither of us had any French worth talking about. After she recommended we... More

A lovely, typical French bistro in the old part of Bordeaux. A smallish menu but each dish was/looked delicious. We were a big group of ten people and they accommodated us fantastically. The service was excellent and the food divine. They also produced a fantastic vegetarian menu (I asked them in advance). This was our favourite meal during our time... More

A great find – a modestly sized restaurant, a little way off the main square and main restaurant area. We dined indoors, which was very pleasant – comfortable chairs and tables spread out and not too closely packed. The menus and wine list were presented in picture frames which was quite original. The staff were pleasant but we observed only... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant to us for our 'special' anniversary meal. And what a huge result. One sitting only - at 8pm, fully booked most of the time, local cuisine presented beautifully by cheery, bi lingual staff who seem to really love their jobs. I had razor clams to start my partner had a tomato salad - with tomatoes... More

Le Bouchon Bordelais is a simple welcoming restaurant with a youthful style. Most of the clientele was French, but there was no problem in asking questions about the menu in English. After an amuse bouche (fennel soup with foam) , the first courses were a bouillon de pistou(a modern take on a Provençal classic) and fois gras de canard. Both... More

What a lovely evening. Recommended here on Tripadvisor and by our host this restaurant at the north end of the old part of Bordeaux has atmosphere! Staff were friendly and attentive, but not over so. Starters were good to excellent. Mains: lamb was good, and steak excellent with lots of flavour - one of the best I’ve had. Desserts were... More

Everything was as you would always want it to be - the Bordelais cuisine (excellent\), the service (informal but professional), the ambience (perfect lighting, wonderful decor), and the kind of rich, textured, complex wine that made Bordeaux famous. Bravo!

Our first meal in Bordeaux, and definitely the best meal we experienced in Bordeaux! We decided to "go for it" and ordered the tasting menu, a 50 euro "bargain", described as an 8-10 course offering.(I believe we were served more than 10 dishes, and was even offered a cheese course when I mentioned I enjoy cheese before dessert!) The staff... More

Went here with business colleagues the week before the euro 2016 championship kicked off on a recommendation. Booked ahead to avoid disappointment (you'll be very lucky to get in on-spec). Small, comfortable restaurant with very helpful staff. Small menu choice of 3 dishes for each of 3 courses. Extensive wine list if that's your thing. Absolutely amazing flavours from start... More
