Nice atmosphere, good food. Location is very good, opposite to the cathedral and some wonderful medieval(?) houses. We had Choucroute with a larger group, was good. Locals told me it's a good place, too.

Popular and well-known restaurant with typical Alsatian food and regional wines. Tip: reservation needed as highly frequented.

Authentic. Not just authentic atmosphere. This is the real deal. But being by the Cathedral it draws many tourists. One group of 12 in our room was quite boisterous and took away from the romantic atmosphere. We enjoyed an aperitif followed by salads and dinner. I had the pork knuckle and my wife had pork filet dinner. Both were very... More

Clearly this place caters for the tourists seeking 'authentic' Alcasien food. It is flooded with tour groups on limited budgets. If you seek authenticity then find somewhere else well away from the cathedral environs. If it is party mode you want rather than good food then this is the place for you. The food is served in enormous proportions and... More

Hearty Alsace food. Service was quite good - they swapped my daughters meal when she didn't like it ( my fault - I had misheard her). I had chicken in Riesling sauce with homemade noodles. It was good but could have done with some vegetables on the side. My husband had the pork knuckle in beer which he said was... More

We had a traditional, hearty meal at Gurtlerhoft. The restaurant is in a large underground cellar, with a number of different levels, which makes it very cosy, even though it is a big place. The service is efficient, if not all that friendly -- probably because there are so many diners needing attention! The food was good quality and filling.... More

This restaurant near the Strasbourg cathedral is my favorite restaurant in the entire city. I eat here every time I visit my family in Alsace. The food is traditional and absolutely delicious, and, man, is it hearty! Today we all had had some form of Roasting—a potato dish that will stick to your ribs like nothing you've ever eaten in... We were attracted to the history of the building and knowing we were going to be dining in a Cave like setting. The atmosphere is really breathtaking and quaint at the same time. The food is from the Alsace region and is a lot of comfort food. We started with the Tarte Flambe, since we had seen them all over... More

It was ok but over priced, don't think I will be back. Very loud and slow service, ok if you want something traditional but I'm sure there are better places to try in that area.
