Hearty Alsace food. Service was quite good - they swapped my daughters meal when she didn't like it ( my fault - I had misheard her). I had chicken in Riesling sauce with homemade noodles. It was good but could have done with some vegetables on the side. My husband had the pork knuckle in beer which he said was... More

We had a traditional, hearty meal at Gurtlerhoft. The restaurant is in a large underground cellar, with a number of different levels, which makes it very cosy, even though it is a big place. The service is efficient, if not all that friendly -- probably because there are so many diners needing attention! The food was good quality and filling.... More

This restaurant near the Strasbourg cathedral is my favorite restaurant in the entire city. I eat here every time I visit my family in Alsace. The food is traditional and absolutely delicious, and, man, is it hearty! Today we all had had some form of Roasting—a potato dish that will stick to your ribs like nothing you've ever eaten in... We were attracted to the history of the building and knowing we were going to be dining in a Cave like setting. The atmosphere is really breathtaking and quaint at the same time. The food is from the Alsace region and is a lot of comfort food. We started with the Tarte Flambe, since we had seen them all over... More

It was ok but over priced, don't think I will be back. Very loud and slow service, ok if you want something traditional but I'm sure there are better places to try in that area.

We were attracted to this restaurant because it sells a traditional Alsatian dish (Baeckeoffe) that one person in our party wanted to try. There were six of us, and with my mediocre French and a young server's pretty good English, we were able to laugh and joke with him and the owners throughout the meal. Everyone enjoyed their meals and,... More

For authentic Alsatian food, this is the place. The meals are hearty, soulful and satisfying. I had the pig knuckles with fried potatoes, my wife had pork medallions and our friend had the kidneys in a mustard sauce. We were all quite satisfied. The restaurant is in an old cave across from the Cathedral in Strasbourg and is charming. Service... More

So I've been here 3 times over the last decade, and it just continues to be awesome. The ambiance, the food and the service are always superb and it's such a fun night out. Very regional food that is just spectacular - it will make you want to try and buy the famous baking pots to bring home (yep -... More

I decided to have my last dinner in Strasbourg here and it made me regret that I hadn't come earlier in my trip. I would have loved to try the other dishes if I had the time. I got the Le Gurtlerhoft set menu. Foie gras, Alsatian Baeckeoffe con carne, and the Kouglof ice cream. The food was perfect and... More

In the cellar of a building next to the Cathedral you will get quality food and good service. The menu is focused on the regional cuisine and has plenty of pork, chicken and cheese options; all having ample portions. The rosti is a medium size skillet with a mix of hash brown potato and melted cheese with options of additional... More
