We were walking along the Petite France area when we came across this restaurant. We took a seat outside and were promptly waited on. I had a schnitzel while the wife had paté and a local white wine recommended by the waiter. My wife spoke French witht the waiter, but I am sure English would have been ok also. We... More

This is a must next to cathedral. Opened in 1427. Best choucroute I ever ate anywhere. Great service. Would go back in a heartbeat. Don't miss a meal here!!!

My grandsons had their first taste of Tarte Flambe and loved it (it was crisp and moist). We sat outside and watched the passers-by as the starter was devoured. All wanted something different and all was good when it came. Sauerkraut for one lad, veal escalope for the other and I had kidneys in mustard sauce. My Berry Beackeoffe for... More

Le Baeckeoffe is located in the Petit France area of Strasbourg and is within walking distance from many of the sights. We had supper here, 1/4 litre of local wine, we each had the veal escalope (delicious) and finished off with apple strudel. Cost was 49 euro which we thought was reasonable for the area. During the busy tourist season... More

We toured Germany, France and Austria for three weeks and this was the least enjoyable dinner that we encountered. The restaurant is located in a section of Strasbourg called Petite France. We sat outside in front of the restaurant. I ordered a large salad and my husband ordered the baeckeoffe, a traditional Alsace dish. My salad was prepared with lettuce... More

Although the place is best known for its Baeckeoffe (typical Alsatian stew) that looks and smells great, we opted to try another specialty of the area: tartes flambées. These are simple flat pies dressed with cheese, onions and a few other toppings. You have to eat quickly though, as these pies grow cold pretty fast.

This is a nice restaurant with good prices. I had the baeckoffe with lamb and my friend had the choucroute with mixed meat. These tasted lovely and the portions were huge - we couldn't finish it all. One thing that let it down was that my creme brulee had not been brulled - it was just a bowl of vanilla... More

From the outside, we almost walked away but the hotel gave it a good review and I was happy we went. I ate Baeckoffe, which is a stew of pork, veal and potatoes. Lots of potatoes. It's simmered for a long time and just falls off the fork. Again, don't judge this book by it's cover. Just good local food

Stopped here after looking at the menu outside while on a walking tour of the city center. We started off by sharing a Nos Tarte Flambee with ham and cheese (as pictured). Most of the restaurants offer this dish. Nice size and worked great for 3 of us. We had a Tarte Flambee at another restaurant and it wasn't nearly... More

Really good baeckeoffe, especially the one with lamb. Portions are quite big and the waitresses professional and nice
