Basically on a side alley where it could be easily missed one gets a 2 or 3 item platter with naan or other bread for about 8 quid. Fast & easy-the items of the day come ready to plate. Nothing amazing but a great option when one is on vacay in Madchester & needs a quick meal.

I went here on a recommendation, I was told (warned) it was very underwhelming, I know someone who works with food standards and this very small back street Indian cafe consistently scores 5/5 on the hygiene council score, unfortunately they are only 4/5 at the moment because they need to update the menu with the allergens, it’s difficult for small businesses with very complex flavours in their food. Most people who pack the small café daily have “rice and three” the restaurant cooks several main curries daily and with meat and vegetable options, and you pay one price and have rice with three curries, you can have just one and sides with your food if you wish, I chose the lamb and carrot, the chicken curry and the keema curry (mince meat) two were a bit spicy the chicken curry was the mildest, they are trays of onion chutney, coriander and chopped chilli at the serving counter to add extra spice or flavour, not licensed so just soft drinks are available, and this is certainly not the type of place you need to dress up for, but the food was great, fantastic portion size, great value. Quite a unique cafe, but I’m glad i can say I’ve done it.

A few of us called in on a Thursday lunchtime and had an excellent meal as we always do. Choose three different curries and rice for £7 and you will be thrilled with the quantity and quality. The dishes change every day and there is a great variety, suitable for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian palates. Unusually, there were no jugs of water and glasses available as they always used to be. We were advised to buy water from the fridge in bottles, but the gentleman eventually gave us some free. I think it is a requirement in the UK that this should be the case upon request. it is a busy place and you can’t book but somehow we always seem to get a table. No wonder it is popular as the food is great and good value.

I have been going to this and that for many years, however, in the past 6 months I have been going on average once or twice a week, I know they now recognise me because I am always polite and courteous with the staff. But, I have noticed each time I go in the portions are getting less and less! However I really like the food so I always think maybe it's my imagination. Today I went and had 1 curry and rice the price of this should be 7 pounds, they charged me 8 pounds! I know that it's a very well established and increasingly popular place, so they do not value regular customers. I will now go elsewhere. But I think it's very sad.

First time here on a recommendation and have to say what a great place this is and refreshingly a bit different, good choice of curry’s all really flavoursome, decent portion and incredible value, you can add some extras if you want and all served with fresh Nan or chapati etc. The team were very friendly and helpful, recognised I hadn’t been in before and really made you feel welcome. You sit on the benches to eat and there is a good atmosphere and buzz to the place, it’s certainly very popular and no surprise, will now be making this a regular place to go when in Manchester, well recommended.

Visited This & That after many years. Got a lamb nihari, keema, chick pea curry & chicken tikka between us when we ordered a couple of rice & threes. There wasn't actually alot of veg options if you didn't want potatoes or chickpeas as the spinach was cooked with lamb. Prices on the menu board were not updated so the all meat plate came to £8.50 & the 2 meats & 1 veg came to £7.50 which was pricey for the portion & quality. There wasn't any coriander as garnish on the side but there were ginger, onions & chillies. The food was lukewarm to cold which was disappointing considering it was just open for lunch. The lamb nihari wasn't as spicy as expected & we only got about 3 miserable pieces of lamb each. Keema was way too sweet. The chicken tikka & chickpeas were unremarkable. The garnishes certainly enhanced the flavours of the lacklustre curries so I wish we had put more on! It was really busy when we went so it's clearly a popular place but we are unsure why based on the food we had.

Great value for home cooked curry. A few reviews complaining about the curries being bland...thats why there['s a huge bowl of fresh green chillies, onions and coriander...spice it up as much as you want. No nonsense service in a no nonsense location. On a quiet Tuesday afternoon the constant stream of customers spoke volumes.

This the third time me and my mates have been in here over the last three years. If you want some brilliantly tasty food at very cheap prices and welcoming staff, do not give this place a miss. Go for the rice and three menu. Sides are very cheap and absolutely lovely, one of the Kema Nans I have enjoyed. They don't serve alcohol but I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you walked in with a bottle. Can't wait to go back to Manchester next year for another round.

I have been a regular at this n that since the early 90's but recently when i have been the prices have in creased and the portions given are a lot smaller than previously. I dont mind having to pay more but for the portion size to change as well is very disappointing. I understand that we have a cost of living crisis but com on this n that you cant have it both ways please revert to giving out reasonable portions on your rice and 3 as I love your food.

It is not far short of 40 years we have been visiting this wonderful little café and it’s always maintains very high standards. It can be a little bit difficult to find but do you make the effort. It is a friendly place that has an awful lot going for. Two of us chosen from the delicious varied dishes on offer. Three curries and rice each plus a portion of their amazing kebabs came to £14. This is great value as they are big portions and can be in enhanced with chilies, coriander or ginger from the counter. Does get busy but the queue goes down quickly and you can always find a seat on the benches. They sell drinks but water is free of charge.

I have never in my life felt so compelled to write a food review, but that changed the moment I got the first whiff of the aroma creeping through the alleyway door. Not only is the food good enough to put this place on the list of must-see’s in the city, but the friendly staff and overall welcoming environment push this place over the edge. Mo, the man behind the counter of this flavor factory was incredible personable and took the time to get to know me and my friend and truly made the experience. Not to mention that you’ll pay half what you would at most restaurants for twice the meal. I can’t wait to return and if you care about food and nourishing your soul in any capacity, you’ll do the same.

My friend and I went yesterday for my birthday lunch. First I have to say it’s a small place down a side street, but it is well worth a visit. It’s not a place you would spend a long time there, but it’s was great. All the staff were amazing. Everyday they offer different food. They have a great special. You can pick 3 different curries and rice for £5. There are lots of other stuff you can buy separately. If you want a quick lunch, you really must try it. Enjoy. Me

Tuesday lunch and night, Wednesday lunch. I ordered something different on all three occasions, but none came off. I especially liked the lamb chops and vegetable biryani. I also liked the all-you-can-eat condiments of green peppers, pickles and onions. I had to add green peppers to all the dishes to make them spicy for me. For the side, I ordered garlic naan and roti, but roti was closer to authentic. I like it so much that I'll visit again this weekend.

We are no strangers to Indian cafe type restaurants & this one did not disappoint! It’s basic, nothing special but the food is bang on home cooked Indian food & the prices are incredibly good value. Love the concept of Rice & 3 we opted for two veggie & one meat dish each. The bill, with one can of coke came to £11.00 Husband was delighted! 😆
