Visited as a party of 16 for my Dad's 60th birthday. I can only imagine that those who have left poor reviews are used to eating tapas from big chains and like. This place does authentic tapas with all the trimmings. The food was outstanding...More

Reasonably priced, delicious tapas. Best we've had in England! Went early evening as think it's difficult to get a table and couples can't book at the weekend. Very authentic and rustic, simple but tasty dishes; you can taste all the flavours in each individual dish...More

I don't usually give very bad reviews but I couldn't stand this place. We went for a friends birthday and was assured it was good as if never heard of it. It's down a back street off deansgate and as we walked in we were...More

I normally say 10pm - they will serve later, but you really need to sit down by 10 if you want to get a good range of dishes. And yes, it's a good idea to book - can get very busy from Thursday onwards. The food is... More

Sorry you'll have to ask the restaurant if they do gluten free bread etc but I would think you could eat there by only choosing tapas that did not involve flour..

El Rincón de Rafa is Manchester's longest-serving independent Spanish restaurant, having been in the city centre for 22 years. A family run establishment, El Rincón is regularly described as a 'hidden gem' and offers a relaxed, authentic experience, brought to Manchester from Málaga by owner Rafael Cabrera-Vargas. El Rincón offers a large range of tapas and main courses (including paellas) and a fully stocked bar with a huge variety of Spanish beers (both bottles and draught) and wines. The off the beaten track but central location of El Rincón (close to the Hilton hotel - turn down St John's St from Deansgate and take the first right) ensures an unbeatable authentic Spanish atmosphere, but with hidden nooks and crannies for a more intimate feel. The restaurant doesn't accept bookings for two, seating couples at a number of tables on a first come, first served basis. Customers are also welcome to visit just the bar for food and/or drinks. Que aproveche!
