We had visited Kyotoya once earlier last year and had been wanting to visit again for a while. It's difficult to come by good reasonably priced Japanese food, and Kyotoya is certainly one of those places where you get it. We were extremely hungry when we walked in today, we were welcomed by a friendly man who quickly took our... More

Given all the positive reviews, I was looking forward to trying a new place to eat. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. Decided to try a takeaway. The chicken Gyoza were tasteless and very salty, followed by salmon teriyaki which was as dry as cardboard. Given that they specialise in fish I would have thought they could cook a... More

We visited when it opened on a Friday, so were the only diners but the staff were friendly and attentive (and we heard them taking a few delivery orders). The place is great value for money, we paid £28.50 (for the 2 of us) and £8 of the was on beer! The food is very tasty, and good portion size... More

Went there for lunch It was a delightful surprise Sushi was amazing. All freshly made when you order; no pre-made sushi on the table. It can be busy at times. Do anticipate about 15-20 min wait for the food. The service was amazing. Highly recommended

It's not a "swish". Without the Japanese style prints on the walls, the ambience would be that of "Joe's Caff". It is, after all, in a back street in Withington - part of Manchester's "Student Quarter". And as with your average "Joe's Caff", the food is good, plentiful, and reasonably priced. When we went, "Joe" (I'll call him that) whom... More

This wonderful gem is round the corner from my office so we often go for lunch. The owner is helpful, chatty and polite and cooks amazing food! The sushi is fresh and delicious and the hot food is deep and moorish (I would seriously suggest the Nabe)

Foods there can not be called Japanese food. Most of the dishes are not Japanese style. even the chief there is a Chinese instead of Japanese. I went that place with my friend on 27th August. I have to say the owner did spend a lot of time on decorations to make the restaurant look like a Japanese one. I... More

This place is totally amazing the staff are friendly and cannot do enough to make your visit and food the best. It's very quaint the food quality and taste is out of this world. The food is better than top end Japanese restaurants in Manchester at a fraction of the price highly recommend!!!!

We had dinner here a few days ago and had the opportunity to experience the ability of the chef and owner, only responsible of all creations. In two, we had a selection of sushi/sashimi, a maki, a mixed tempura and some prawn noodles, the entire bill remaining below 50£ (beers and extra included). All preparations were generous and ingredients were... More

One of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to. Nicely priced and seemed authentic. Only issue was the lack of atmosphere. Some decoration but no music. Might be different in the evening as we went for lunch. Would definitely go again.
