As a vegan with a nut allergy I often struggle with eating out- not at the Deaf Institute! They have an entirely vegan Sunday menu which was amazing- they call it "THE VEGAN HANGOVER". The chef was really lovely and helped me chose something suitable for me, despite my difficult dietary requirements. I was in the mood for something sweet... More

We went here to see a gig and the burger was included in the price. The actual bar was great. Very bohemian and studenty but comfortable and pleasant. The food and the service was good. The gig took place upstairs in a small, intimate venue. A good age range of people I felt very comfortable. We actually went to see... More

Simple, tasty food served in a decent bar (with good beer) with friendly staff. I'm not sure I'd make the effort to eat here if I wasn't going to a gig but that's simply because it's a bit off the main drag and there are so many other choices in MCR. Next time I'm going to the Deaf Institute though... More

We went in on our way home from a lovely bike ride on a sunny day after hearing about their changing "Vegan Hangover" menu every Sunday. We were in for a treat! The menu had 4 or 5 items, the most expensive one being a delicious seitan burger with chips for £8.5 - not exactly breaking the bank... We both... More

Well. What a busy night when we dropped in on The Deaf Institute. My first time. I guess the crowd was related to the concert about to happen. Who is Robert Forster, by the way? On the specials board, the aubergine and polenta burger sounded worth a try. So we all ordered our food, and sipped our drinks and waited... More

The deaf institute is a good music venue as its a small space therefore it can be quite intimate. The drinks aren't bad prices. Worth seeing a band there if you can.

I ordered a cheeseburger and a portion of the jalapeño poppers and pulled pork fries. Very impressed with the quality of the food and considering I'd ordered 3 different items it all arrived at the table quickly. I will certainly be going back!

After seeing in the M.E.N. that Deaf do vegan specials I wound up there with a small group of friends with mixed ideas on ethical eating. My meat eating buddy and I annihilated a bucket of wings (delicious sauce and just a little crispy on the edges), the others had a variety of tacos and burgers, and the vegan was... More

Came back to this place after discovering they do food after we had been to see a gig there. The building is really cool and there is a good atmosphere inside. There is no table service, you order at the bar, but the blonde lady who took our order was very friendly and answered all our questions. They have a... More
