Went for our anniversary meal, seated outside. The outdoor dining is sheltered with canopy’s and heaters which provided an enjoyable experience and blankets were given out to anyone feeling the cold. Our waiter was AL who was extremely attentive, friendly and provided a wonderful service.More

Came for a birthday brunch and was unfortunately disappointed with service and food. Separate waitress to order drinks with and then food had to be ordered with the manager . When ordering orange juice as two people had ordered larger it was suggested that we...could do a jug which when the bill came was £12!!!! When manager came to take food order, requested a substitution on the full English which didn’t arrive and we had to wave a member of staff over to ask where it was and again to chase it as nobody came to check how we were getting along. Eventually arrived once one meal was finished - waiter offered hot drinks on the house -and how many but then as these were ordered was told not for the whole table (5) however. Vegan English muffin option had no butter substitute and was very dry and burnt ( pretty much grilled lettuce on a burnt muffin) Staff were not attentive atall and the food was mediocre which is a shame considering it wasn’t a busy morning as weather was predicted to be poor. We had been looking forward to this booking but were left underwhelmed and wouldn’t recommend.More

We went here for an afternoon lunch and drinks before the full relaxation of lockdown, so outside seating was the only option. Given the weather on the day (sun/hail/rain etc) this was always going to be a challenge for them. They did it beautifully though,...and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Sure, everyone was a bit closer together under the umbrellas to keep dry but it was Covid safe and the service was excellent. Drinks were really original and definitely quality. Food (we had the charcuterie platter) was excellent and hot. Booking was essential, and we were contacted before we went to warn us about the weather, and the guy looking after the ground floor reception was great whilst we waited to access the lift. The guest who thought that he could jump the queue by dropping a few names was very politely reminded that the people in front of him were in a queue and had appointments just the same as he did. Will definitely be back for a meal and drinks when they are able to open properly.More

We visited 20 Stories for lunch. The weather was a typical Manchester rainy day but that did not ruin our visit. We were greeted at the door and our temperatures taken and NHS app zapped. On entering the restaurant we were greeted and shown to...our table - wow what a view. We were sat in the corner overlooking Trafford Park. Our server was attentive and fabulous as was the food and ambience. The social distancing/covid measures put in place were very reassuring. We were kept try by the huge parasol overhead and kept warm by the patio heater. Food was wonderful. 20 Stories have definitely got it right and we will be back.More

This restaurant is highly recommend! I love this restaurant as the foods & drinks are highly standard. My partner took me out to this restaurant and this is best restaurant ever. Me and partner are deaf, the staff respect us and treat us equally the...same as with everyone. Me and partner has two courses with Manchester Tart Punch for drinks, it is pure amazing. I would recommend to you all to try Manchester Tart Punch. I would say as starter, Giant king prawns is amazing and having cheese burger as main course is lovely and fresh. Nothing / no fats dripping out of the burger. The staff did given out to customers a blanket to chill while having dinner as it can be cold at night time❤️. I would come back to this restaurant! Also I would add something... This restaurant does have an amazing views at night time to make you fall in love with Manchester city and I'm in love with Manchester.More

We have been wanting to visit 20 stories for some time but unfortunately had a number of bookings cancelled due to covid-19. We finally had the opportunity to visit last week. Sadly, it did not live up to expectations. Unfortunately, it was a drizzly manchester...evening but the person who rang to confirm my booking reassured me there were umbrellas. We had eaten at a few other restaurants in recent weeks where the weather had been typically Mancunian and had a pleasant experience, so we did not think it would be a big problem. On arrival we were shown to our table of which around a third was very wet being only partly covered by the umbrella. The restaurant has Perspex screens in place between tables to provide covid protection. This is very good, however did mean that I was hence offered the option of either squeezing down one side of the table which was wet, or squeezing past a hot lantern. Decisions, decisions. (I should point out I’m an average UK size 12 so it is not as though this problem was unique to me.) After navigating the wet side of the table and acquiring a damp patch in my groin in the process I found the seat to be also wet with a soggy fleece blanket offered for comfort. After standing awkwardly, unsure whether to embrace my puddle seat fate the staff reluctantly agreed to move us to the table adjacent. There were a number of tables free and no one else was seated in the soggy section for the remainder of the evening. I can’t imagine why it was thought anyone would want to sit with a damp crotch for the evening. Whilst I completely understand the restaurant has no control over the weather I would suggest it would be better to cancel tables if this is the experience offered. Our next table was much drier however very cold. Some tables had heaters provided however we were not deemed worthy of one of these. The menus are accessed by scanning a QR code. Options are very limited, which is understandable in current circumstances. It does however mean that your minimum cost for food is £39/head- for 2 courses (or £45 for 3). Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive in taking our initial order. The food was nice but very small portions and not worth the cost. We asked the server who brought our food for additional drinks (our original waiter was very busy serving a large party at this point). Unfortunately, our drinks never arrived which meant we ate our entire main course without a drink even of water. When our original waiter realised (after we had finished our food) he chased them up straight away. In the end we paid £160 for 2 people to have 2 courses, 1 shared dessert and 2 drinks each. We have eaten at many restaurants around the world and are more than happy to pay for excellent experiences. This, however, did not fit the bill. I had visited the Ivy the week before where the food bill was less than half the price of 20 stories. I remained warm and dry and had a wonderful time. The food was beautifully presented and we were unable to finish it due to generous portions. I will be sticking with the Ivy in the future after this experience.More
