After choosing from a fine range of gins, we decided that we would restrict ourselves to a starter and a pudding. Both of these far exceeded our expectations and gave us a really memorable dining experience.

Stopped off in the Cotswold area on the way to Oxford to wait for our first grandchild to be born and went to a few pubs who either weren't doing food or where we felt unwelcome. Stopped here and had the most wonderful quick bite to eat and a great conversation with the young man working. We were the only... More

We said we would be back after our excellent lunch earlier in the year (in the snow). Dinner last Saturday evening was truly excellent; a succulent duck dish and the most tender shoulder of lamb were equally outstanding. The lemon posset and blueberry dessert which followed was outstandingly good. Service was friendly and efficient. We are looking forward to our... More

Relaxed and friendly staff contributed to a good meal, beautifully prepared and served. Excellent choice of local beers and some interesting gins.

Stayed here as close to family and one of the few places in the area that would accept a one night stay (most wanted minimum 2 nights). Room was to a high standard with excellent shower - despite being next to main road the windows were soundproofed and we had an excellent nights sleep. The restaurant, whilst being expensive, serves... More

We've stayed here several times and loved it every time. I'll start by saying that I believe the current owners are making a fine job of both the hotel and restaurant sides of the business. We have stayed in a number of the rooms and would describe them as comfortable rather than luxurious as most are fairly small with small... More

Stayed here last weekend (23-24 April) when walking the Cotswold Way. Room was very well-appointed and the bed was really comfortable. The attention to detail was fabulous - from the fresh milk for your tea and coffee (and lovely tea and coffee) to the gorgeous hot water bottles. But it was the food that was really stand out. Our dinner... More

We visited for lunch. The menu was varied and interesting. The "ham" egg and chips was spectacular - I've never had such a thick and juicy slice of ham and the butter sauce, poached egg and broccoli complimented it perfectly. My wife had a risotto which was thick and creamy. Some may regard the prices as a little steep, but... More

Stayed here on business and to also entertain a client. Nice old fashioned pub feel to the place. Room was great with nice little touches such as fresh milk brought to the room. Wonderful food and service with a great selection of beers and wine. 10/10 and highly recommended. Will stay again.

We booked here for a Saturday night and were a little disappointed to find it so quiet. It is a cosy spot and the staff were very attentive but it lacked a bit of atmosphere. The starters were all delicious, celeriac soup and the paté in particular. The mains were ok. The monkfish needed more sauce and was served with... More
