Met up with friends on a Friday evening, at the start of half term, and the combination if traffic and roadworks in Lancaster meant a few of us were late. the staff were very patient and understanding. Glad we all brought our appetites as the...menu offered just the right amount of choice to suit everyone (we had vegetarians, no vegans in our group). The food was delicious, with intense flavours of the sauces and attention to detail with the presentation. Need to go back to try some of the other items that my companions had! There was a great convivial atmosphere, with other groups eating or drinking in a lovely rustic pub setting.More

4 of us visited last Saturday. This certainly is a quality rather than quantity food place and the food was really very tasty. However, 2 of the 4 main courses were cold, 1 was sent back, the other was eaten anyway. There was no explanation...or apology for this. Also, our first choice bottle of red wine wasn’t available and when we tried to order a second bottle of an alternative, that was sold out which was a little annoying. So overall, a bit disappointed.More

Situated on the Quay, the Wagon & Horses is situated only 5 minutes’ walk from the city centre and surrounded by Lancaster’s Georgian heritage. Excellent value for money, the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The rooms are comfortably furnished and super-clean....Fabulous breakfast included in the room rate. I’ve already booked to stay again over the festive season when next visiting my elderly Mum who lives in Lancaster. Booking through the Wagon and Horses’ own website gives access to their parking spaces; if you book through other sites parking is still available on the street until 11am. Highly recommended!More

Spent one night here as part of a cycling trip with my pal. Very nice room, clean and well decorated and appointed. Good breakfast and nice welcome from the staff. A nice wee place to stay.

Great food here. Really nice ambiance in the place. Nice wine and very good staff. Surroundings are really pleasant and only a five minute walk into the town centre. Nothing to dislike. Looking forward to the new menu which is out now.

Had a table booked last night for 4 people . I had not looked at the online menu beforehand as if I had I would not have made this my first choice of restaurant. I was expecting an up market gastro pub type menu which...it used to be , instead of which there was not one dish (apart from a veggie option) under £21.00 for the main course and most starters £9.00. The waiter brought the wrong steak for one of the party and we had to wait for this approx. 15 mins. We luckily ordered 2 sides of chips otherwise our meals were very small. The food was of excellent quality but I think they are aiming too high with the choice of menu and costs. we ere not offered any discount for the incorrect steak. So sad as this used to be lively pub restaurant with a variety of different dishes on offer. Our bill was in total £170.00. not good value for 4 main meals, no starters or dessert. Please revise the menu back to what it was!More

Firstly Montysmum5, thank you for your review. It is a shame to see that you have enjoyed evenings here before, yet your first review is negative. The true sign of a key board warrior. Your review states that you were looking for a restaurant yet...More

Comfortable rooms, clean, well maintained. Carole and her team will make you feel at home. Scrumptious breakfast served every morning. Good location, with parking available.

Stayed here this past couple of evenings with my friend. The moment you walk in you feel so welcomed by the landlady who has obvious passion for her establishment. The rooms are spotless, warm and inviting. The food is the best that I have had...in any establishment for many years. We had the duck on the first night and felt it was like heaven on a plate, tasty , hot, well presented and served by kind attentive staff who go out of their way to help you and make sure all is well. We will most certainly return, at long last a hotel with high standards like in days gone by. What a find , it’s just brilliant. Liz Dumbell.More

We parked on road in front initially until discovered parking spots round the back accessed via narrow lane at side of adjacent pub (forget the name, sorry!)
