Mothers Day treat - our first meal here. Great food, good service and nice atmosphere. Would definitely eat here again. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and lots of veggie options.

We arrived early 12:45pm for a table of 10. The meals had been pre-ordered so was quite simple. The service was impeccable, looked after us and we're very attentive. The restaurant was only half full so they were certainly not overbooked. However, the quality of the food for the price was very disappointing. Most meals were cold and quite bland,... More

Went here for family party of 7. Menu at lunch is a little limited but would rather have a few things done well than a hundred done badly. Chicken burger, scampi and sausage and mash were good. The pie was a little bland and not up to the standards of the rest. Would go back.

First time visit to this lovely little pub and we were not disappointed; nice selection of drinks and a gorgeous Sunday lunch! We'll be back for sure.

The reason we chose this pub was because they are dog friendly. We took our lab out to the pub and we were greeted warmly by the staff. They really do enjoy having the dogs there, as opposed to barely tolerating like they do in some pubs. The drink and food menu was good and the food was lovely! I... More

13 of us booked for lunch one Thursday. Since I was last there the pub and restaurant had been tastefully refurbished. Although we arrived on time when booked at noon and there were few other customers, disappointingly it was almost 1pm when we got our meals. However there were no complaints re the food and I can highly recommend the... More

Lovely old pub. Very friendly landlord and excellent food. The pub is ideally located on the canal for walkers.

Very friendly and professional chap called Steve I think welcomed me into the pub, was warm and very attentive. Had good pint of cider, calamari was soft, thick and creamy. Blade of beef was cooked well with sweet potato chips that were just right and firm green beans. Had brownie and coffee after - the sweet finish was just enough... More

Went a few month ago and had a fantastic time and the food was amazing. So we decided to go again, new owners and no restaurant. Service not so friendly and we won't be back. It's a shame as it used to be really good

My previous review gave this restaurant great praise but following several changes of ownership or management I was very disappointed in the beer ( stale, flat and thin ) and in the food. Service however was very good and the staff made every effort but the stuff you eat and drink falls far below expectations. Perhaps teething problems in the... More

Description
Congratulations!
You’ve won the chance to visit us and have a great time, well done you!
We’re a village pub in the big city (well, town), with even bigger plans for world domination. The Plough is the perfect place to meet friends, family or supervillains, as we treat you to a no-holds-barred festival of food and drink.

Facilities
Our toilets are dead good!
If that’s not enough, there’s also a great garden that runs right down to the Grand Union Canal, and it’s a great place to eat during the brief interludes between rainshowers and downpours the British weather permits us. We even do barbecues!
Inside is where we keep things like our excellent restaurant, the comfortable & relaxing snug, and the all-important bar. The toilets are inside too, don’t worry. Free wifi is available throughout, and we have free parking, but please use the spaces behind the pub instead of bringing the car in with you.
We’re dog-friendly (we prefer them to humans), child-friendly, and childish. Please note any unattended child will be given caffeine and a puppy.
Our staff aren’t always sarcastic; sometimes they’re asleep. Our mums love us though.
We have absolutely no uranium enrichment facilities. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Restaurant
We’re pretty proud of our restaurant. Whether you’re with friends or colleagues, looking for a hearty meal with the family, or after a dinner for two, we’ve got you covered.
Once you’ve finished admiring the decor, we’ll seat you at a table and discreetly bicker over the chance to serve you. We’ve got a great selection of wines, beers and spirits, and we’ve even heard of nonalcoholic drinks too.
Our chefs specialise in unpretentious food that makes the most of quality, fresh produce. We like to prepare imaginative dishes done properly, so our menu stays interesting and enticing. No, honestly, you’ll want to eat our stuff again and again!
We cater to most dietary requirements and preferences (and fussiness), including an actual variety of vegetarian choices. We love having families with kids over for tea too, no worries.
If you’ve still got room after dinner, we’ve got a wonderful selection of desserts, and we do a mean cup of coffee or hot chocolate, barista style.
When the weather’s kinder to all of us, you can dine out in our al fresco area, as well as in our canal-side garden.
Our restaurant can be booked for private functions; ring us and ask!

We’re dog-friendly (we prefer them to humans), child-friendly, and childish. Please note any unattended child will be given caffeine and a puppy.
