Family group of 6 . Early dinner booked for 6.30pm on a Friday evening. Fairly busy, good atmosphere. Service good. Food and drinks quite expensive for what we got, e.g. ÂŁ16 for a mediocre burger with just a few chips. ÂŁ6.20 for a pint and Pinot at ÂŁ25/bottle. A generally OK experience but probably wont return.

Was a bit hesitant re some of the negative reviews but decided to try for ourselves. Despite being a new building the place is very cosy with a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and our lunchtime snack of club sandwiches with fries were very tasty made with quality ingredients and portions were very generous. Definitely plan to return when next in the area.

I've been multiple times with colleagues and the food has been fine at best and bad at worst each time. Even the nachos aren't great, with the cheese used congealing into one blob within a couple of minutes and not enough of the other toppings. The building itself is nice, though, with a lovely outdoor area (part of which is covered).

Me and my family came here for the “Jubilee Fun Day” whilst waiting in the Que for almost half hour to be served for drinks and food, we heard people complaining that there was no BBQ (which was advertised on their leaflets etc) ok, that was fine.. to then be charged £13,95 for a burger and chips ( we got told by the member of staff that served us that is came with salad - tomato’s, lettuce, choice of sauce etc) lovely, no problem. We ordered 5 burgers & chips each cost £13,95 so the total came to around £72.00 . Well, I actually laughed when they put down our food on the table. Look at the picture, this is what we were given. Just a frozen burger and burnt chips shoved on a plate. No salad. We was then told when I asked where the salad was, that they had “run out” of salad. I then went on to find the manager who brought us over a small plate of lettuce and onions. (Laughable) for all 5 burgers. I went on to ask her “ would you pay £13,95 for this? Which she agreed no, and offered us a complimentary round of drinks, which ok, that’s fine we took it, however I do wish we got our money back as the burger was so dry as were the chips, everything frozen, nothing to make up for the loss of money and starving children; that couldn’t even eat it. Extremely disappointed with this venue. Nothing seemed organised and a lot of complaints.

Atmosphere OK. I avoided the light lunch menu as I was hungry. My wife had the light lunch sausages at ÂŁ5 and a good meal size, my Shepard's pie and peas were no larger but from the main menu and 3+x the cost of the sausages. Not value for money. I recommend they get the balance right that is fair to clients.

We went for a late lunch/early dinner today and the lack of service was disappointing. No acknowledgment when we went in, had to order at the bar when my husband had been told it would be table service and we had to go and order a drink again at the bar mid way through the meal, not ideal! No one came over to check how our food was which is fairly standard in most pubs and we then also had to go back to order a kids dessert when I would have expected someone to clear out plates and ask if we wanted a pudding. Staff stood around chatting and not much attention being paid to anyone. Shame as we have visited the pub many times over the years but we won’t be back in a hurry.

I am very sorry that the service you received when you visited recently was not up to our usual standard or what I would expect. Although no excuse, we do have a number of new staff who are undergoing training, and your comments have been highlighted to the team as a whole so that improvements can be made. I very much hope that you will come back to give us another chance and once again please accept my sincere apologies.

We recently visited Chineham Arms and were warmly welcomed by Hannah and Sophie. The ambiance of the pub is both cosy and charming, contrary to some reviews I had read. It boasts a quirky, festive outdoor space that reminds one of a Bavarian drinking spot. Having already eaten, we opted for drinks and were impressed by the delicious proseccos and the exceptional mulled wine. The menu looked so tempting that we decided to try the lamb kofte and squid - both dishes were a culinary delight, especially the lamb kofte served with potato salad and pita bread. A truly delightful experience!

I recently held a big birthday celebration for my wife at The Chineham Arms in The Cowshed for over 50 people. Having no real knowledge of organising such an event for so many I used Rachael's professional experience to carry out the requirements which she did exceptionally well. Thanks to Rachael, Andrew & their friendly & helpful team everything ran smoothly without a hitch all going towards making it a memorable afternoon for my wife. A number of people afterwards commented on how nice the buffet which Rachael prepared was. Holding it in the Cowshed was just the thing, being airy with access to the safe garden for the kids giving parents ease of mind. I last used the Chineham Arms 2 days before The Pandemic closed it down. Regrettably I have only briefly been back once since but shall definitely return as my wife wishes to try the menu plus the beer choice is great .

Arranged a relaxed works leaving do here on a Friday evening 31/1/20 taking advantage of their pizza buffet which was served in a reserved area by the bar. Comms were very good before the do to clarify numbers and expectations. The pub serves good beer including London Pride and Amstel, and the pizzas were surprisingly superb for a British pub, with a great range of pizzas on offer. As a heads up you need to order and pay for the pizza buffet up front - but it actually saves any bother on the night, to be honest, and is a friendly, relaxed, cost efficient way of providing food while everyone is enjoying chatting and drinking. Wrapping up two and half happy working years here with fantastic work colleagues made for a brilliant evening. Fully recommended.

In the Area for a few days, so, thought we would eat away from the Hotel. Warm welcome and drinks arrived quickly, but, sadly, presentation and quality of food was poor. Nachos to start looked like a child had thrown it on a plate. For main, the lasagne was burnt and clearly been through the microwave. Waitress was apologetic, but, no blame attached to her. How could this plate be deemed acceptable to be sent out? Shocking!

The food was great, the staff was very attentive and the mood was amazing as well. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection. The kids has bacon chop and burhuer and were very impressed as well, to finish the meal. We had sticky toffe puddings and Paul's brownie with buffalo salted caramel ice cream. Definitely recommended

This is the second time that I have been to The Chineham Arms with family that live in the area. The place has a lovely atmosphere and is clearly doing a great job in remaining a Covid secure environment. Plenty of outdoor space etc a one way system and ordering on line. The problem was that the app was not easy to use even for people a generation younger than me. I would have walked if they had not been with me. I ordered Fish and chips, this is my go to lunchtime meal because if done right it is just the ticket, if done wrong it shows up the issues in the kitchen. Great Chips ! excellent size of fish but cooked in very bland batter a little thought would have been good here. it came with Tartare sauce which either came out of the cheapest jar or was made in house with the most horrible mayo , not good boys and girls. The real game changer was a serving of mushy peas mixed with either spearmint or peppermint such that I thought it was green toothpaste. I was just so disappointed. The service was good once you got beyond the App. Personally I would have talked to the customers and asked what they wanted in the traditional way.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry that you were disappointed in some elements of your meal, I will forward your comments to our Head Chef for him to speak to the relevant people. We are encouraging customers to use the on line ordering system to minimise face to face interaction during these times but if you are unable to use it then we are happy to do table service. Once again, thank you for your comments.

Booked this venue for my wife's surprise 40th birthday and had full use of the outside 'Cow Shed' area and i must say how fantastic it was to have such a lovely outside covered space for all our friends and family! From booking the Chine Arms with Rachel and Chris to the fantastic service by all the bar staff who where so helpful all the way through, especially Lauren who always ensured that we had everything and where happy to the great food that was brought out for the buffet. We couldn't fault anything at all to be honest and it was a great hit with all that came to celebrate! Many who would want to use this space for there upcoming parties too! There was never a sense of being rushed at any point, the tables where being cleared in the same manor as if we where dinning in the restaurant area. We will be back!

Rang up at the last minute on a bank holiday on the final day of 'Eat Out to Help Out' expecting them to be fully booked but they manage to accommodate us .They also on our request cooked us the Sunday roast even though it was a Monday( and normally obviously only served on Sundays ).The 4 Sunday roasts we had ,including the nut roast were nicely presented and tasty. Overall good experience especially as they were accommodating with our initial booking and requests for Sunday roast on a Monday.

I took my brother for a meal after a hard day's work.. Whilst at the bar we discussed the menu and that busy pubs on a Saturday evening struggle to produce a steak as ordered. We'll.... We were wrong to involve the chineham Arms in that conversation. The steak (medium rare) was right on point, as the French say. It was the best steak I have ever eaten and I've had a few - the entire meal was above perfect and the steak chef deserves the praise. Thank you very much.. Andy Bradburn - five stars xxxxx and a ten from Len.
