We have been eating at the Raj Shahi for over 20years. Recently it closed and has been refurbished and is run by Hassan. When we visited on day 2 of opening the chef was new and we didn't enjoy our meal as much but now the old chef has returned and last Friday all 4 of us had a great... More

Food generally good with the chicken puri a stand out item. Friendly service and good attention from waiters. Spice content of food variable; a madras is hot and spicy one week then like chip-shop gravy two weeks later. In spite of what the menu says, the Raj Shahi is a lychee-free zone, with the staff unable to comprehend the nature... More

went to the Indian last evening but this will be our last visit. We have been eating her regularly over the last 8 years as the food is very good. After being ripped off on the bill last night we will be looking elsewhere and write this as a warning to other to check their bills. They have been serving... More

Love raj shahi it's a brilliant restaurant. The chicken dansak is amazing and my husband loves the chicken tikka madras. We have the same every time we go. Love the garlic nan bread it's the best garlic naan we have had. The service is very friendly and efficient. They never forget your face and name. It's brilliant. I would highly... More

My friends and I are regular visitors and always find the staff very welcoming and polite they have also put Christmas decorations up!! We have tasted mostly all of the curry dishes always full of flavour and fresh. As previous reviews have stated the outside appearance is off putting surely a can of paint wouldn't go amiss! But good luck... More

This is probably the oldest Indian restaurant in town and still the best. It may not be the best looking place. But the service is always good and food is always something special. The Tika dishes are all served on a sizzler and there is always loads of it. If I have one minor criticism, it's when you have been... More

Having driven past plenty of times over the last twenty years or so, we decided to give it a try. The poppadoms and contents of the chutney tray were really fresh, the lager was fine and the service was very good. The staff were good to talk to. My colleague kept raving on about how good his Karahi was. Mine... More

Driven past this place loads of times and always fancied trying it. A bit tatty on the outside and in but a good atmosphere (8pm on a Saturday night). Food was good and value for money - 3 of us ate and drank for just over £50. Seemed like the decor and music was stuck in the 1980's which was... More
