At Saul Junction on the Glos to Sharpness Canal. Great views from upstairs balcony to watch all the action on the canal. Nice children's grass play area with tables. Tables for adults on gravel. Efficient helpful service with a smile. Very busy and popular. Tasty scampi and chips, baked potato with several fillings and pasty all come with salad.

Our new boat is now moored in the Saul Junction Marina and I have been cleaning her up for the new season. Dropped into the Stables for breakfast one morning and wasn't disappointed. Top quality food, plus I discovered its dog friendly which is definite plus for visiting with our manic Weimaraner Izzy when we venture out on the Glos... More

Situated on the lovely bank of the canal this is a potential little gem. Prices of drinks & cakes on the expensive side but to be expected. However quite a few of the cakes are plastic packed wrapped & not home made. There were 10 of us & we spent £50, the fruit scone two of us had was definitely... More

I often take friends here for a coffee or lunch midweek. It has never disappointed, we usually make it a late lunch as it can get busy and we like to linger and chat! The staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is fresh and delicious and the cappuccinos are superb. The selection of cakes is wonderful. I highly recommend... More

My mother and I decided to have lunch here whilst watching my brother rowing! What a gem it was! we had two toasties and chips, one a sausage, cheddar and red onion chutney the other Brie, cranberry and bacon. No other words than delicious! What great flavours!! It makes a change to have proper food rather than brought in ready made... More

Have used this venue a few times for breakfast and once for a snack lunch. On all occasions the food was excellent. Although there was a short wait I would put this down to all the food being freshly prepared. Faced with the local alternatives of Garden centers and chain pubs this wins hands down. At least you can have... More

We've been to the Stables on a number of occasions and have always been really pleased with our experience. The cooked breakfasts are excellent and cooked to order. The sandwiches we had for lunch were also excellent and very filling. If you only want a cake, there are lots of delicious tray bakes to choose from among other cakes. If... More

We visited Stables Cafe last Sunday whilst out for a walk and what a lovely place it is. It was very busy partly due to a local event and partly as it's so popular but the busyness gave the place a great buzz. The staff were busy but managed to stay really friendly, helpful and cheerful. There was an entirely... More

Over priced and poorly staffed. Only ordered 2 rolls and waited 40 minutes plus. When I enquired they said it was because of an open day at saul junction. Surely a reason to get in more staff. I was told there was only one person preparing food. Avoid on weekends or bank holidays.

Thanks for your review. As all of our food is freshly cooked to order, during busy periods there can be a wait. On that particular day, we had two members of staff phone in sick in the morning. I'm sure that you can appreciate that with very little time to try and find other staff to work, this meant that... More
