I decided to come here while I was in Gloucester as I had heard several positive things about this restaurant. Coming here definitely proved to be the correct decision as all of the meat was so incredibly tender that it took 'melts in your mouth' to a whole new level. It wasn't just the tenderness of the meat that was... More

We have been to C & W's Africa Experience many times now and it has never failed to deliver. Charlie is a warm, accommodating and friendly host who seems genuinely pleased to see us (even when I have had to change my reservation a few times -sorry again Charlie) and the food is just wonderful. I always go for one... More

Charlie and Wanja are lovely people and great hosts. The food they prepare is beautifully cooked and well-spiced but not hot. Must tries: goat curry - tender and tasty, plantain - similar to sweet potato but imo better, the bbq dishes particularly the brisket which is wow! Servings are ample, prices good and because you bring your own booze, what's... More

Satisfaction guaranteed, the food is delicious. All the meat we had was beautifully soft, the goat curry and the beef brisket was sublime. And the surprise at the end of the meal... the best carrot cake I've had in England. Planning many trips back!

Although we had found it difficult to know whether this restaurant was open having passed by earlier in the day, when we dropped in about 6.30, we were welcomed, and invited to take pot luck with whatever was being cooked. It was delicious and was a good mix of traditional food from Africa. The gentleman working front of house joined... More

Excellent value, super sized portions and lovely welcoming staff. We went to the 'house' near the parkland and not the restaurant on the high street. The owner is a lovely welcoming lady who is clearly passionate about her African routes and food. The 'hot' curry was truly hot, also if you are a lover of hot food - do give... More

You have to order a day in advance, and there's a good reason for it. This is real smoky, slow cooked barbecue that can't be rushed. Try the African banquet and you will be plied with perfectly spiced, melt in the mouth chicken, beef, lamb, goat until you can barely walk out the door. Then when you've recovered, go back... More

We booked a meal here because of the rave reviews on TripAdvisor, and we weren't disappointed. We had an email back from the owner, asking what we'd be ordering, since some slow-cooked choices must be prepared in advance. For two of us, I ordered a "vegetarian banquet" and lamb ribs. The owner wrote back that the lamb ribs are quite... More

I had heard good things about C and W's African experience and had noted their constant appearance at the top of the TripAdvisor listing for a while. So I had high expectations of the restaurant when I arrived. The food must be good, right. RIGHT. An absolute revelation to me. Succulent, delicious, spicy in places and hugely welcoming. Expect a...
