Highlight of the restaurant is the fish which is very fresh. Lowlights are, the restaurant is very noisy, the eating area is cramped especially the tables which are designed for no more than two people and as such four is just annoying. Finally the desert menu was a huge disappointment. Each item on the desert menu was unappetising. For instance,... More

This was my first visit to the Drum and Monkey but by golly, I'll be going back again next year. The whole experience was nothing short of delightful. As I walked into the bar to meet my friends, the barmaid was warm and welcoming. Our table staff were the same .... attentive without being overpowering BUT..... OMG the food. It... More

We first came to the restaurant three years ago, brought by some local friends. It was so good that we came back the following night on our own. Travelling through this time, we thought we would try it again. They have updated the décor, so it is clean. smart and elegant. They had a lobster menu, so we thought we... More

We went on the recommendation (although it was more like the command) of a colleague in London who was born in the area. We were lucky to visit at the time of the lobster festival; it was so delicious it honestly made me want to cry (disclaimer: this was the first time I had eaten lobster) Prices are not too... More

The restaurant had a special Lobster menu and we chose this. It was simply excellent and a good size lobster. The wines were also perfect. We had a table by the doorway which wasn't great but it is a small restaurant but it would have been nicer to have a window table, but the nice waiting staff did explain it... More

We had not been to the Drum and Monkey for years but my husband is a seafood fan and wanted to try it again. We recalled it having old fashioned flock wallpaper and were very pleasantly surprised by the decor. We had booked in advance as it was a Saturday evening and were initially seated side by side on a... More

In its heyday a table at "The Drum" (as its known locally) on Friday or Saturday was usually on a 2-3 month waiting list regular groups of people all had their own tables booked every weekend. The food was spectacular at a time when Harrogate only had a few restaurants. A change of ownership and new places opening saw the... More

We found this restaurant by chance. Visiting Harrogate for my 70something birthday. We were having a general saunter when my phone rang so stopped walking to answer and my wife noticed the menu. With name like Drum and Monkey we would normally walk straight past thinking it was bar/café. However my wife looked at the menu and said straight away... More
