Stayed close by and called in for couple of drinks - what a wonderful relaxing place , cosy , gas lights on the bar , well kept real ales and very friendly staff and locals. Wish we were able to join your New Year's Eve party - sounds great !

I was in Harrogate for 10 days and on the Thursday night we found ourselves at a Karaoke Night at Hales Bar, where we had a brilliant night out. Some of the 'singers' were dubious at best but the atmosphere when everyone sang along was fantastic and infectious. The bar caters for every walk of life, and I can only... More

This is a real Pub no renovations just how they should be with a good choice of beers and pleasant friendly service and nice out door seating area .We had a Ham and pickle Sandwich Nice bread and tasty Ham piccalilli fresh salad with real chips not Fries. This is Pub not a Restaurant and serves good Pub food.

I called in at Hales Bar yesterday to have a quick pint while I charged my phone, which was drastically low on battery life and soon found myself in what could only be described as an oasis from the complete and utter madness that is Black Friday. Yes, the pub is gas-lit, which, inevitably, means that is going to be... More

Visiting Harrogate for an evening concert, found this brilliant bar away from the shops. Stepping back into the Victorian era, complete with gas cigar lighters on bar. Small menu, excellent food, large portions with the vegetables not boiled to death, several real ales to choose from. Well worth a visit, friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.

A proper pub in amongst the wine bars. Lovely character with comfy seating, real gas lights (?) on the bar and gentle easy listening music. Didn't want to leave to go back out into the rain, could have stayed all day.

Been to Harrogate many times but never been here. Terrific boozer. Very good selection of ale, lively locals and tourists, live music from several local singers and the only pub that still has the original working gas lighter lamps on the bar. Nostalgia, beer and live music - a top night.

Excellent little pub just out of town. Great food, great beer and even better gin and tonics. Olde world and very unusual inside, well worth a visit. Met some lovely locals too, very welcoming bar staff.

This old quaint bar has burning gas flames for light dotted along the bar. It really is a must visit bar with its real ales it has a good mix of old/antiquated furnishings with a modern twist of flat screen TV. Nuts don't come in bags but are served loose in a silver dish

The oldest pub in Harrogate with Victorian gas lighting & artifacts. Our small menu is all home made & locally sourced. A private function room available for private hire. Please remember we are a very busy pub not a restaurant therefore service times are dependent on levels of trade.
