We had the lunch deal of 3 courses and a glass of Bellini. The dining room is a pleasant setting for a meal. At first, seeing the size of the starter, we thought the meal might not be very filling. However, it turned out not to be the case. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and was very enjoyable.... More

We drove 50 miles and had booked a hotel room. We were booked for dinner at 19:15 but ar 17:20 we got a call to say they had ceased trading that day so they needed to cancel the reservation. We walked past later that evening and it was closed

6 course tasting menu very interesting with quirky flavour combinations. Generally very tasty but occasionally over complex and at times too challenging for the palate. Bread delicious and welcome as long wait between courses meant we were peckish for a long time. Service cheerful but not as professional as you'd expect / hope in such a high end establishment. Decor... More

Visited with our friends who have told us repeatedly how wonderful Van Zeller was. We were not disappointed. We ate the lunch offer menu which I think is amazing value at £17.95 especially as a Bellini is included. I was very impressed with the quality and freshness of the ingredients. There is a little note on the back of the... More

On holiday in Harrogate for a few days, booked Van Zeller as it got good reviews on TA. We had checked out the menu on-line and one day when passing the restaurant and were keen to have the a la carte menu. On arrival we were brusquely shown to a very small table, my 6 foot 4 husband could hardly... More

Me and my husband visited Van Zeller for a 6 course tasting menu for our anniversary. They were able to cater to our dietary requirements really well (husband is vegetarian and no cheese and i'm no seafood) and we were served 6 very clean and innovative dishes, especially the chocolate coffee desert which was to die for! The service was... More

I'd always thought that Van Zeller was the place to visit for exceptional food and service. If in doubt in Harrogate - go to Van Zeller. However, I'd been wondering why it had slumped to some way down the list of top places to eat in Harrogate. After some considerable efforts to get it on a Thursday and then Friday... More

There are restaurants in Harrogate with fancier interiors, slicker waiting staff etc. Don't let that pull the wool over your eyes because once you focus in on culinary experience Van Zeller is easily the best restaurant in the area. The flavours and presentation are world class!

Description
Van Zeller restaurant in Harrogate has a chef of rare gifts in native Yorkshireman Tom Van Zeller. Creating delicious and innovative British cuisine is the mission here, and one that has succeeded admirably. The smart dining room is both stylish and comfortable, a fine, intimate bistro-style setting for the kitchen's high ambitions. Chef Van Zeller started his career locally at the famous Betty's Tearooms and Rudding Park before learning his craft in some Michelin-starred restaurants in London, Sydney and New York. Now returning to his roots, Van Zeller won the backing of esteemed restaurateur David Moore (two Michelin starred Pied a Terre and Michelin starred l'Autre Pied) in creating Van Zeller restaurant. Almost immediately, his creative cuisine has earned Van Zeller Best Newcomer at the 2010 Northern Hospitality Awards, Best Chef at the 2010 Harrogate Hospitality & Tourism Awards and a pair of AA rosettes. Van Zeller is one of Harrogate's destination restaurants.
