As Ushuaia the team at the Banyan were accommodation and welcoming. The service was consistently good but the star of the night was the food. Having travelled and eaten all over India I can honestly say that the food was as close in flavour to the food I experienced during my travels.

We have been to the restaurant after a full day of meetings and realy hope for a good Indian comfort food. The restaurant is an old building attached to the Queensgate shopping centre. At first glance it does not look very authentic but we were tired so we remained. The menu is a combination of the familiar dishes with many... More

Me and my partner where in town for a few drinks. We decided to go for an Indian together. Someone has recommended this place. I wish they hadn't. First thing we was told by the greeter was that they was closing soon. (Which is fair enough) we then got seated. We didn't even get a change to look at the... More

The customer service provided was truly atrocious!!!! The manager was very rude and overcharged us when we clearly booked in for the banquet meal at the advertised rate of £9.95 per head. We were taken to the table and left for 25 minutes without menus or drinks. Our bill arrived at £260 for 8 people!!! I will never return to... More

It's the first time i have eaten here in the evening, and I'm glad we decided too spend a little extra compared to the cheaper Indian restaurants in the city centre Lovely food, with many more authentic dishes including a great street food vegi starter. Attentive and helpful service explaining the less 'standard' dishes.

We visited the Banyan Tree on a very busy Saturday night and once again thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The range and fusion of flavours in so many of their dishes is amazing. On this visit we had Bhel Puri and Royal Harra Bhana for starters and Goan Fish Curry and Jinga Hara Pyaz Massala for mains. We also had Chapati,... More

No, not an undiscovered manuscript from Enid Blyton, but a factual account of an almost annual reunion of five men of a certain age who in retirement meet, mainly to discuss their health, with a few other things thrown in. We have been three times over the past four years to the Banyan Tree. It is a superb restaurant, and... More

I met with a friend for dinner on Friday night and we decided to try the Banyan Tree in town as we have never been before, but had heard plenty of great things from colleagues, not to mention the great tripadviser reviews. We had, thankfully booked ahead, as it seemed very busy when we arrived. We were taken upstairs and... More

Had a wonderful meal here for the two of us. Was very welcoming and served quickly and always checked on for water and wine top ups. The food was so so yummy and they are massive portions so always good to share. Would defiantly come back :)

Regularly visit here and never disappointed. Always welcomed by a friendly face. Staff remember how you like you curries. I like the Goan fish curry but with the heat of a madras, they never forget. The food is delicious and authentic. Very reasonably priced also. The restaurant has an extensive range of beers, including real ale.
