My daughter ate here this week with her dad. She was so impressed she booked a table for the next day to take me. I can only say what a lovely place. We could take our little dog in, which is nice in the winter. Do not be fooled by the fact that you can take dogs in the bar... More

Have been here once before and again every dish of food was very good. The two steaks ordered were both a bit too overdone for what we asked for but nonetheless were good. Service was charming and they had a musical duo playing who were excellent. My only real issue was that despite it being packed with folk, we were... More

Travelzoo deal so terrific value. Part of OHH group. All 4 of us very impressed with the standard of food and efficient service. Good wine selection and draught beers. Three of us had lamb rump- probably the best I've ever had. Absolutely nothing to grumble about and as per previous comments - worth the full price. Chew is well served... More

Went mid afternoon for a Sunday Roast catch-up with girlfriends and both the service and food were lovely! Generous meat portions and a great vegetable selection. Good wine menu and delicious desserts. One word of warning just as we were arriving lots of families with small children were finishing up so I imagine our 3pm lunch wouldn't have been as... More

Popped in for a spot of lunch on 14/11/2016, around quarter past 3. Wasn't too hungry but decided to have a gander at the menu none the less. Thereafter it became apparent that I was dining. Had the steak ciabatta and they were kind enough to remove the gherkins for me. Stayed for a pudding as well and left fully... More

We visited as a family for a birthday celebration on a Saturday evening. The food was fantastic and waiting staff friendly and knowledgeable (particularly about the gin selection). Service was prompt and the two children with us were well looked after. The dining room area had a nice atmosphere and the menu was varied. Great quality food at reasonable prices.... More

This is a lovely pub - good atmosphere, great wine list and a lovely open fire in a lovely little village. I stayed one night with my parents and can't recommend it enough. Rooms were lovely, beautifully decorated, beds super comfy - you could hear a bit of noise from the pub, but nothing major. Breakfast was included and was... More

Booked for lunch with a group on voucher, very good value and excellent food. Would be happy to pay full price for this quality of food. Staff coped well with a wheel chair + a dog.

We stayed at the hotel for only 1 night and could not have felt more welcome, we were welcomed with a smile by a young man who showed us to our beautiful room, walkin shower, all very modern. We asked for a taxi to our restaurant that evening but due to the remote location we were unable to get one... More

Description
Escape the city at this handsome local in the heart of the foodie Mendips. Eat well in the woody, intimate and candle-lit dining room. The generous menu: locals look forward to steak night with meat sourced from Walter Rose butchers in Wiltshire. Bedrooms are up steep concrete steps from the courtyard (bit of building work going on next door but quiet at night). Find serene creams, decorative fireplaces, Egyptian cotton sheets and smart coffee machines.
