Simply the best pub around. Fantastic bar staff and consistently good kitchen. Meat, fish and salads all catered for very well indeed.

My husband and I visited the Bear and Swan last night (local to us) for a rare meal out. We like the pub and come in occasionally for coffee or a pint, but this is only the second time we have eaten here. I don't remember feeling either particularly pleased or disappointed about the last meal we had here, but... More

What a great find. I googled pubs in the area, checked it out on trip advisor and wasn't disappointed! Had a lovely lunch there, everything was perfect, would definitely recommend and will certainly be visiting again. Thank you Bear and Swan.

Very welcoming pub with a very relaxing ambience. It was Saturday lunchtime and it was very busy. Notwithstanding this service was prompt and pleasant - the only time I had to wait at all was when a party of about 20+ arrived en masse and swamped the bar. The food looked so good a quick drink turned into a full... More

With family nearby we never stay here, but after a family funeral the house was full and we had no where else to go nearby. Room was comfy and recently updated with clean linen and nice bathroom. Noise from pub was bearable and subsided before midnight. Breakfast was terrific and the staff were super friendly and kind. They catered our... More

Lunch through a Travelzoo offer although have known this gastro pub for many years. two course lunch from a la carte, plenty of choice and to a high standard. Recommend the pork belly which was delicious. Included a glass of wine. Real bargain.

We visited here as an impromptu night out, looking for a relaxed atmosphere and good food. I wasn't familiar with the area and found this pub through an Internet search. It certainly didn't disappoint, the welcome was simple but warm. The service was professional but not over bearing. The staffing team are young but by no means immature, they seem... More

Stopped for lunch simple but good variety of dishes, very good wine list. The dining areas are spacious and there is a nice atmosphere. An ideal place to stop for lunch after visiting the lake.

Escape the city at this handsome local in the heart of the foodie Mendips. Eat well in the woody, intimate and candle-lit dining room. The generous menu: locals look forward to steak night with meat sourced from Walter Rose butchers in Wiltshire. Bedrooms are up steep concrete steps from the courtyard (bit of building work going on next door but quiet at night). Find serene creams, decorative fireplaces, Egyptian cotton sheets and smart coffee machines.
