Called in on the way home and all 9 of us had a fabulous meal, reasonably priced, lots of choice and served quickly with a smile even the dog was allowed in the bar.

My husband and I came across this by accident on a travels up to Newcastle (scenic route). We were welcomed with a smile from the staff members present, this was lovely. The food was good, home made fair and were generous portions. According to my husband, the chicken and leek pie is a must. Good value, good service, good food.

This is the sort of pub you always hope you will come across on holiday, or whenever you are looking for good, honest pub food as opposed to that expensive, pretentious gastro-pub nonsense that wouldn't satisfy the appetite of a super-model. The menu is extensive, the food arrives quickly and is hot, there's always plenty of vegetables, the staff are... More

I never post on Trip Advisor so it says a lot that I have today. An honest friendly pub run by people who clearly put quality food and customer service at the top of their list of priorities. The steak pie is incredible but leave space for pud. If you can the portions are huge. The home made bakewell and... More

What a fantastic pub. Sat and had our lunch in front of a lovely open fire. The food was absolutely first rate; there were 6 of us & every single meal was plentiful & delicious. The homemade chips were beautiful. My hubby & his friend enjoyed a couple of pints of the hand-pull ale & said they were particularly good.... More

We have visted here several times now and i can honestly say that on every occassion we have been served a beautiful meal of the highest quality. The food is homemade and well presented. The deserts are great - I can definately recommend the lemon merangue pie. The chicken curry and steak pie are also great. Portion sizes are more... More

Me and my aunt visited on Saturday. It was a lovely sunny day so we sat in the beer garden. I had cheeseburger and was delighted to see it was actual cheese and not a cheese slice. The burger was nice and thick and very tasty. The chips were nice and chunky and a nice portion of salad was also... More

Very busy pub and quality of food justifies it. Meal was really good. 6 of us all different meals and all very good in quality and quantity. Big portions which some of us could not finish. Lovely sunny day but sat in conservatory with the sun shining on us and the heating on full blast. Nowhere to move to as... More

Food was excellent, very hot and large portions. Reasonable prices. We visited between their two busy periods so quiet and speedy service. Very clean, every table had a small vase of fresh flowers - nice touch. Highly recommended and will definitely be going again.
