Myself and my husband have been watching a lot of cooking shows recently and decided we need to choose more outside the box when it comes to food, life is short so why always choose something you know. With that we found this hidden gem...in Sligo, we couldn’t get over how reasonable it was and also what a lovely selection of food they had on their menu. We each choose the 6 tasting starters from the al la carte menu, we found this an amazing way to try an array of different food at such a great price. We couldn’t fault it, everything was so tasty, especially the soup of the day and the salmon gratin. For our mains my husband picked guinea fowl, and I had best lamb, I sampled both dishes and I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything quite like it. Each mouthful was an experience. Obviously I’ve eaten lamb before but nothing like those We would have loved to try the nice selection of desserts but we litterally couldn’t fit anything else in. The staff were so polite and friendly. It really was such an incredible evening. I’d have no hesitation in returning again or recommending to friends. Everyone be should get to try food like this once in their life. We will be talking about this meal for some time to come.More
Why did we wait so long to go to this incredible place? My wife and I had an absolutely amazing culinary experience in Montmartre. Everything was perfect from the service to the desert wine. The menu is sensational - we had roast pheasant, and guinea...fowl, and they were both sumptious, as were the deserts. The wine list is the best I've seen in a long time and we were wonderfully served by Mathew and his well trained team of staff. I can't wait to go back. A real gem in the West of Ireland. Counting the days for when we return! Merci Montmartre!More
Perfect night out. Felt like an occasion, food very special, big portions (missed out on desert as too full) beautifully done. Very pleasant service, good and reasonable wine list. I thought it was exceptional value for a really excellent meal. Definitely top of the list...next time in Sligo, and I’ll skip lunch to keep space!More
Amazing as always, it's been a couple of years since we have been able to visit but it was so worth the wait. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was just amazing.
We waited nearly two years to come back to this restaurant as we love it so much. It did'nt dissappoint, as usual. We were greeted by the ever professional Matthew, who showed us to our table, gave us our menus and told us about the...specials. I went for the special starter which was a duo of seafood with mussels on the side and my wife went for the mussels as a starter (you can also get them as a main course). We also opted for the Kir Royal each. My starter...was wonderful. Full of flavour and substance. Could have had a second helping. My wife, loved her starter as well, two cleared plates between us. Then.....The Mains...... I went for the Pan Seared Hake with Lobster Jus, New Season Potatoes with Yogurt and Lime and my wife went for the Grilled Fillet of Irish Beef with Rosti Potato, Shallots Cream and Black Peppercorn Jus. One word. Sublime. I couldn't finish mine. Believe me, I wanted to, but just couldn't. My wife loved her dish, but again, couldn't finish, but wanted to. Finished off with a glass of Champagne each. We were looked after so well. A fantastic restaurant, fantastic staff and will be back again.More
Table 4x4 and not a single frown. This place delivers and is lip-licking good. Great staff too, and the menu speaks for itself. Thanks for a culinary highlight.
Excellent restaurant. The food is really mouth watering. We had the specials of the day. The seafood was so fresh and the vegetables too. Portions were generous. Desert was delicate and delicious. Expresso excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. I adore french food,...and this was amazing. I would highly recommend. We did not have wine. The only comment that I would make is that it gets pretty loud with all the chatter from tables, and perhaps some music would be nice in the background. Thanks very much for a wonderful and unforgettable evening.More
First to arrive for the Early Bird Menu, chose a table by the window. Used to live in France, so my husband and I know French food. The common mistake is that it is a complicated cuisine. Small portions, big on pretence. Whereas real French...food is actually more rustic and like Italian food it relies on good quality, fresh ingredients cooked simply and skilfully. Loved our dinner. I chose from the Main Menu. Donegal Mussels starter, then the Special of Salmon (Mousseline) wrapped in Plaice. Bottle of Rose, which was delicious. There is only one Rose on the drinks menu and it is well-chosen. Fragrant with roses then honey, finishing with saltiness. Hubby had Blue Cheese Bavarois - divine. Then Roasted Pork Filet Mignon. All under 80 euro excluding our tip. The service was just enough; attentive but knew when to leave you alone. Excellent evening.More
My friends and I had the most wonderful meal and beautiful wine there on Friday night, the wines we had red and white fabulous and the price is really good. The manager was so friendly and attentive great experience cant wait to visit again.
We ate here for an anniversary dinner and had such a lovely evening. Relaxed atmosphere and the staff were accommodating and jovial. The food was lovely - one of the best meals that I’ve ever had. Would recommend.
Lovely restaurant. The menu has a really nice selection to choose from and given the quality of the food and cooking the prices are very reasonable. The food was presented beautifully, portion sizes generous and our starters and mains were so delicious - a great...balance of flavours. Staff were welcoming, helpful and attentive. The wine list had a good selection of French wines by the glass, half bottle or bottle. This restaurant will be top of my list when I return to Sligo again.More
We had lobster and the cheese tartlet to start both were very enjoyable For mains I had sea bass wrapped in spinach and pastry the best fish dish I have ever tasted Annette had the the fish special which she loved very delicate sauce Cheese...platter to finish with the Pinot noir recommended by the waiter a great choice Highly recommend it’s on the pricey end but well worth itMore
Our third visit to Sligo and our third visit to Montmartre restaurant. This has become a key part of our holidays. The food and service are just exceptional. My partner said his steak was so good that he wanted another one for dessert. The staff...are very friendly and welcoming, they treat everyone like family. We will definitely be back again.More
This wasn't the first restaurant in which I'd eaten post-pandemic, but it certainly felt like it: a wonderful, restorative, luxurious experience. The service was excellent, the food a delight, and the wine-list most impressive. Our starters were a very tasty guinea fowl and quails egg...salad and a goats cheese tartlette. For mains we had Supreme of Chicken and Hake with ratatouille, followed by sorbets and a finely judged cheese course.(So often they can be out-facing!) I'd love to have the opportunity to go back. The prices were extremely reasonable too!More
