My wife and I drove to this location due to the beautiful pictures, hoping to see a great view. We were not disappointed. The view was great and the Irish Stew was to die for. We really enjoyed Josie, and her family. Very kind people. When driving to the location, be sure to take R574 over Healy Pass. Very unique,... More

My self and my husband ate lunch here on NYE it was divine the sea food chowder & the celery & parsnip soup where both equally delicious, that along with the stunning views and wonderful polite staff, this is one place you need to visit on any trip to the Beara peninsula.

We ate at Josie's last night and everything about it was just perfect: friendly and attentive staff - Ina is brilliant!- delicious food and watching the wind rush up the valley over the lake: perfect! Dempseys sausage starter with tomato and caper salad was brilliant, and no one can cook a fillet steak like Josie. Book it now for next... More

I've had many wonderful meals at Josie's and have enjoyed every bite. Her fish and chips are the best I've had anywhere in Ireland (or elsewhere). Josie is charming and you'll likely meet her in person if you visit.

We found this by chance and the small backroad led us to a wonderful setting overlooking the lake and mountains. In time for lunch, with my wife enjoying the warm goats cheese and salad whilst I had a delicious fish pie. With desert and expresso coffee the bill was only 20 euros. Worth making the effort to find.

The view on d lake is indeed lovely, but the food is a joke. So overdone that you can hardly bite through the fish. I had a seabass for 18 euros any bit of flavour was fried out of it but the BEST was something that pretended to be hollandaise sauce on d side. It was indeed an oily liquid... More

Popped in at Josie's to eat lunch before we crossed the Healy Pass. The restaurant has a comfy, homely atmosphere and the majority of tables offer a stunning view over Glanmore Lake and the mountains beyond. There were also tables being served outside as the weather was nice. We had the cheese selection with house chutney and Irish stew. The... More
