The title comes from my observations of all the police & fire dept. patches on the wall behind the bar. I noticed that most of them seemed to be from Massachussetts. Then, I was shocked to see a fire dept. patch from my little hometown in Massachussetts... what a thrill to see in Ireland! My wife & I enjoyed passing... More

We were staying up the road and the proprietor of the B&B recommended this place. Food was lovely , we had the Fill the gap meal, which was soup, main course, dessert and tea/coffee all for €20. the place looks small from the front but quite big inside. every night there was live music which gave a great atmosphere. there... Good choice of food though the cafe opposite had better vegetarian dishes. Really just a good pub but worth stopping at if only to see the bored teenagers manning the gift shop, listening to traditional Irish music whilst texting their mates. Average.

We had a large group on "Irish Night". Everything was good except the Irish Night. Apparently a bus tour is set up and some musicians explain Irish music and demonstrate some mediocre Irish dancing. The set up is pretty sad. Luckily we sat in a different area, but it would've been nice to have a more natural Irish music experience...

We stopped here after going through the Gap of Dunloe as it was the first spot for food and was busy. Unfortunately the food was very poor, the potatoes and vegetables were inedible and the roast barely edible. Very disappointing.

We stopped in at this famous cottage after driving down through the gap of Dunloe. The cottage itself seems small from the outside however inside it stretches out to the back and there is plenty of room for large groups. We went on a busy Sunday and there was a good mix of tourists and locals. We only stopped in... More

Arrived at Kate Kearney's after spending most of the day hiking the Gap of Dunloe from Kenmare in the sheeting rain. What a great, authentic and cheerful pub at which to finish for the evening. Great pub food. Local draft beers on tap including the house brews. Friendly mostly local crowd.
