If you are looking for a quick bite of seafood, then try this venue. It is quite basic and reminds of a chipshop on the non-restaurant side. The menu is fairly limited on that side (not sure what the restaurant is like) but it is honest. Great fish and mussels which are served in generous proportions. Do beware that it... More

Unadorned tables in down to earth atmosphere, but delicious seafood, super fresh. To eat in the restaurant, you have to walk past the long line waiting for take out, and you also have to get there early to get a table. We ordered the shellfish platter and seafood chowder and both were great.

The guys and I headed up to Galway for a night on Quay Street. Having lived in Galway as a student I knew McDonagh's was a good choice for fish n chips. Definitely good quality and great choice of different fish. I think the value was also a bonus. We were all delighted.

Simply the best fish n chips I've had. Portions are large especially for children so make sure you are hungry.

Because of recommendations on Tripadvisor I tried the fish and Chips at McDonagh`s as I wanted just a quick meal. It was v e r y busy but it did not take long to be served - maybe a little longer would have been better, because the chips were not well done, so I had to leave half of them... More

Description
Mc Donagh's have been tantalising the taste buds of both Visitor
and Local for four generations.
The Family knowledge of Fish and dedication to their customers
has earned them the reputation of being one of Ireland's
best Seafood's Houses.

Mc Donagh's is divided into two sections:

In the Seafood Restaurant you will find a great variety of fish dishes on our menu.
From native Clarenbridge Oysters, Salmon, Crab, Scallops,Prawns, Hake, Lemon Sole, Plaice, Haddock, Wild Mussels and Ray.
Smoked Salmon from Connemara and whatever else the Fisherman
can get his hands on.
A new addition to our menu is Irish Rib Eye Steak from Mc Geough's
Butchers Oughterard Co. Galway.

In our Fish & Chips Bar the fish is cooked to order, and you are
guaranteed the freshest of Chips, as our potatoes are peeled and
cut on the premises.
Our Fish & Chips can be eaten on the premises or taken away,
we also have outside seating during the summer months.
