We stopped here for a starter a few months ago (I had chicken liver pate) and it was lovely, so we recently returned for dinner. I went with a beef burger while my partner went for lamb. The burger was disappointing, with the only flavour actually coming from the rasher on top. The coleslaw that was served with it was... More

Enjoyed a lunch visit last weekend. Food was excellent, good choice & reasonably priced. We shared pork ribs & chicken wings for starters & followed that with the house burger & fish & chops for mains. Incl some soft drinks our bill came to €65 (excluding tip) for 3 adults. Very enjoyable. We will be back soon!

We found this place accidently when we were going to visit my cousin and had time to spare, so we decided to have dinner there and it was well worth it, lovely food, the ambience inside is perfect. We didn't get to see the Merry Ploughboys themselves but I had seen them when they used to play at Johnnie Foxes... More

We went to the Merry Ploughboy restaurant before a family walk in the Dublin mountains. We had been there once before and it was good then we went back again and it was better than ever. I would recommend the chicken wings as they are the best I have ever had.

Great staff, very friendly to deal with Personally felt they booked in too many people for food Waiting over 90 minutes for our main course

Went to the merry ploughboy on a recommendation. Quite disappointed. Chowder was nice, soup was the same as everywhere else. Main was lamb shank and steak sambo, hubby enjoyed lamb, steak was mostly mushroom and onions. Kids food was nuggets which they liked. Trying to get a drink during the meal was impossible, no staff came near, nobody asked if... More

9 of us had a table here for a Xmas do. The food was lovely, the music was great it's really good value and most importantly the staff do their job with a smile on their face. Well done to all. Will definitely be back.

Much to our surprise, my friends and I really enjoyed The Merry Plowboy. It’s quite a trek out of town, and initially I could not imagine why the conference organizers packed us onto four buses and dragged us off to what I assumed was a tourist trap. Yeah, it’s touristy. Yeah, it’s hokey. And it’s surprisingly good. It is hard... More

Booked a show and dinner here for a birthday. We were the only Irish people at the show as every one else seemed to be American tourists. Which is a bit of a shame that us Irish seem to miss out on a lot of our own culture. Anyway the food was excellent and the traditional Irish music, dance and... More
