Been here a few times for lunch and never disappointed. Menu is extremely varied and has something for everyone. Staff are extremely accommodating, friendly and hospitable. Menu very reasonably priced. You're guaranteed an authentic French meal and experience if you come here. Nicely located right beside Dublin castle, perfect for visiting tourists. Would recommend booking a table if you known... More

I was on a short break to Dublin from the UK. This place attracted my interest as it had a charming small patio area to the front - nestled snuggly next to one of the gatehouses of Dublin Castle. I noticed they had an early bird offer from 5.30 to 7 which I took advantage of - 2 courses for... More

Reasonably priced, food was wholesome, nothing special. Location was great though, right outside Dublin Castle. We sat outside and had a great view of the world passing by. They also had a heated garden at the back.

It is my opinion that some of the staff at Chez Max seem to think that they are superior to the customers and it seems to bother them to have to serve customers at all, as if the job is beneath them. That is my experience which was made bad simply because of the way a middle aged female working... More

I feel very lucky to have walked by this establishment and glad my spouse was willing to give up a meal in NOT FRANCE to try a French restaurant. While our food in Dublin was really outstanding it was a nice change after four days to try Chez Max. We went expecting lunch on a Saturday and found out it... More

We ate here last night after seeing Once at the theatre. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too big an ask. The food was delicious - we had the mini Camembert and the goats cheese pastry as starters, followed by the mussels (huge portion!), the steak frites (tasty meat) and the magret de canard (absolutely scrummy!). We would definitely... More

This restaurant was recommended by an amazing couple of Dubliners who helped out a couple of lost tourists. And what a find it was. Wonderful food - truly some of the best I have eaten, attentive and smiling, friendly staff who gave great service. It's not a cheap meal out but neither is it stupidly expensive - with a tip... Second visit and a real let down. First having been just so so The waiter was good. As was the wine. That's the most positive I can be The starter of goats cheese was tangy but very basic. A filo pastry twirl that was lacking in any real excitement whatsoever.... and I love goats cheese! The wine was expensive and... More

First time to eat here and thoroughly enjoyed it. We opted for the French Onion soup and the smoked chicken to start. Both were lovely, but I think the chicken for me was the best, very moist. Roast lamb with vegetable gratin and beef bourguignon for mains, both delicious. Last but not least, creme brulee, gorgeous light texture and lovely... More
