We had fantastic starters, scallops tender, soft and delicious. Cooked perfectly. An amazing cheese quiche so succulent. The problem with main course was the quality of the steaks. This was rectified immediately by the manager who was interested in listening to our complaint. Sadly my husbands second t-bone was tough. Mine was delicious. We chose main courses unwisely perhaps. Our... More

No desalinated sea water just brilliant wines buy the glass, which we've been doing for 17 years. We pour 4 glasses to the bottle and in ely bar & brasserie our wines by the glass start at €7, of which there are 4 and we have 14 more wines below the €8.75 price. The wines we select are excellent at... More

As it was a dry day we were able to sit outside on the terrace area. We were here just for a light lunch and two of us had the prawn and crayfish salad served on Guinness brown bread (or a choice of chips). The dressing was avocado based, something new for me, but quite tasty. One of the others... More

After going through the exhibit, Epic Ireland, we needed something to eat and Ely's was nearby (and given we had been at the exhibit received a 15% discount--don't know if this is a regular feature or not. The wine list is decent and they have a wide selection of beers and cocktails. We ate simply. I had a burger and... More

went to Ely as part of a very large business group. the quality of the food was incredible, especially given the size of our group (50 people). appetizers are unique and excellent (onion tart, liver parfait, king scallops). shared the rib eye, burger and pork chop (serving size of 2). all the meat was cooked just right and was flavorful.... I visited Ely earlier this week with a number of work colleagues. We had a group of American visitors with us so we really wanted to make sure the day and evening went well. The setting is great and we were seated straight away. The service was very efficient and friendly. The meal was delicious. Everyone was very happy with... More

Really nice surroundings, good service and well priced. It was €15 for two Hendricks and tonic which is good value for Dublin and €18 for two excellent Aperol spritzes which again is a good price for Dublin.

Their wine must be made with desalinated sea water collected from a couple of thousand feet below the surface of the ocean on Fiji Islands. €8.75 for a Glass of White Wine?? Come on..?

Went to Ely in the CHQ building and was blown away by how the stunning the restaurant downstairs is, its an old wine cellar/dungeon :) The menu was a little limited and a bit pricey but cant fault the quality of the food and the politeness and customer service of the staff.

Went with a group of colleagues for lunch. The menu was fine but only had two salads on offer and a lot of gressy food (Burgers, battered fish etc). The waitress took our order quite abruptly and forgot my hot water with lemon, I needed to ask for it twice. I ordered what I thought was a fresh summer salad,... More

Overall, this is nothing more than a fancy wine bar which does sell a limited range of what can be described as bar snacks. The menu presented is poor for a restaurant- The wine menu was more extensive! Food is OK but overpriced for what amounts to bar food...If you dine here I would be surprised if you rush back... Good afternoon An_Englishman_in_NY, thank you for taking the time to write about your recent visit to ely bar and brasserie. It is indeed true that in the ‘bar’ section of our establishment the menus are more bar offering oriented than that you might find in our brasserie. Here we focus, on wine, cocktails, spirits, craft beers and other drinks with... More
