We went with a group and were treated first to a demonstration on Irish soda bread (and provided the recipe). We had a lovely meal--nothing fancy just good standards well prepared and presented. My chicken dish was delicious. The hubs had a fish cake for a starter I couldn't believe I liked so much. The owner makes the experience special--very... More

We had only one meal here due to time limitations but we plan to return. Our friend told us the owner/chef has been a chef in the finest hotels in Ireland. No wonder our fish and chicken dinners were so remarkably good. The berry meringue dessert was a real hit with our group.

This is a typical mid range Irish Restaurant with the owner running front of house and determined to please and have happy customers. Food all prepared fresh with quality local ingredients all explained on the menu. Attentive service.

I booked this restaurant for my sister's birthday as I had enjoyed dining here before. There were 18 of us in total - with a wide ranging age group which sometimes makes it difficult to satisfy everyone. I had the fish cake starter which was absolutely delicious and full of flavor, followed by sirloin steak (cooked perfectly to order). We... More

This was very good food. Although the menu was I feel a bit limited, it may have been because we were a group booking and upstairs. The food was well prepared and adequate. I have the lamb shanks which were cooked very well. The only thing I felt lacking was some greens.

A tale of two tables, my mothers 88th birthday was a bit of a disaster. One end of the table were served their mains 20 - 30mins before the other, still can't understand why. So while half of the party were eating rather guiltily while we watched, they in turn sat waiting for us to finish. We were a party... More

We are so sorry Lorna O that you were disappointed with your experience. We recall your table very well and recall distinctly the disconnect between both ends of the table. The disconnect was linked to the fact that one end of the table ordered first courses and one end did not. We made the decision to go ahead and served... More

We were here for a mid week lunch in a mixed group of adult and children. The service was impeccable. The food was very good and a good choice on the menu. We had really delicious little pots of dessert which were just perfect, filling the sweet craving without over indulging. I will definitely be back.

O'Connells delights in being an Irish Restaurant serving menus with the best Irish ingredients, local, free-range, wild and organic when possible. We are more relaxed at lunch-time and in the evening we add table cloths for a nicer ambiance. We are a medium priced restaurant with an Early Bird Menu being served all evening - seven days a week. We are known for best value dining and being Coeliac Friendly. In 2012 O'Connells has been double awarded Best Casual Dining in Ireland by The Irish Independent Restaurant Awards and The National Hospitality Awards. O'Connells features in The Bridgestone Guide and in Georgina Campbell's Ireland Guide. Our Food is a Family Affair - Today is Yesterday - Tomorrow is Yesterday - nothing has changed. At O’Connells our recipes and dishes have long deep roots. Our Mother was born in 1925 her Mother in the 1890’s.One family food ethic has remained constant - a respect for the land, the sea, the producer and the cook. We are happy to share our family’s passion for the food of the island of Ireland through our menus.
