We were here for a mid week lunch in a mixed group of adult and children. The service was impeccable. The food was very good and a good choice on the menu. We had really delicious little pots of dessert which were just perfect, filling the sweet craving without over indulging. I will definitely be back.

Staff was wonderful! Food was so so. I had a club sandwich that was a bit funky. It had chicken salad on it and grilled. It could be that in the states club sandwiches have turkey, bacon and served cold. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The peas were delicious and he said the fish was quite good.

Thank you twoodsinpdx for visiting O'Connells and your review. Yes our Club Sandwich is served hot and includes Breast of Chicken which is served hot - freshly grilled from our Charcoal Oven - this has indeed a distinctive barbecue taste. Our Chefs will be delighted to read that the Club Sandwich was somewhat funky - we had got a bit... More

We ended up at O'Connells after finding our target restaurant closed. But, it was a very pleasant surprise. It used to be a pub, and is quite a barn of a place, but the ambience was very good and, despite a few bus-loads of tourists, the service was punctual and polite. The food was rather good, too, so I would... More

I visited O Connells restaurant last Saturday night the 9th July with my wife and 2 friends. We had been there about a month previously and really enjoyed the meal. We arrived at about 7.15 and we noticed 2 or 3 buses outside. The first thing we noticed was the menu was totally changed from when we were last here.The... More

From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the owner and made to feel so welcome. Excellent menu and very impressed to hear that most, if not all, the food was from a local source. We were with a group and everyone was very impressed with the service and the quality of the meals. We would definitely recommend... More

We arrived at the restaurant at about 6 pm and it was very quiet with only about 4 tables occupied. There was a lounge man by the front desk and we asked him for a table for 2. At that point one of the waitresses came up and told us that she would show us to a table. She then... More

Thank you Stonellas for sharing your experience with us. We try very hard to get things right and to be most welcoming. It is against every fibre in our being to be rude and we apologise unreservedly. What you describe is quite simply extremely poor. We will act upon your experience immediately. Our hosts suggested O'Connells as a good place for our first meal in Dublin. It is in the Donnyhall area, a bit south of the City Centre, quite large, and with a distinctly Irish feel. It falls nicely into the gap between gastropubs and those supplying cheap and cheerful pub meals. Price was reasonable, service was excellent, menu was interesting... More

The appetizer is done like a buffet there are about 7 different items they were all very good. I had the ham and cabbage which was delicious. I liked that the cabbage was not over cooked. The Sherry trifle dessert was tasty not overly sweet

O'Connells delights in being an Irish Restaurant serving menus with the best Irish ingredients, local, free-range, wild and organic when possible. We are more relaxed at lunch-time and in the evening we add table cloths for a nicer ambiance. We are a medium priced restaurant with an Early Bird Menu being served all evening - seven days a week. We are known for best value dining and being Coeliac Friendly. In 2012 O'Connells has been double awarded Best Casual Dining in Ireland by The Irish Independent Restaurant Awards and The National Hospitality Awards. O'Connells features in The Bridgestone Guide and in Georgina Campbell's Ireland Guide. Our Food is a Family Affair - Today is Yesterday - Tomorrow is Yesterday - nothing has changed. At O’Connells our recipes and dishes have long deep roots. Our Mother was born in 1925 her Mother in the 1890’s.One family food ethic has remained constant - a respect for the land, the sea, the producer and the cook. We are happy to share our family’s passion for the food of the island of Ireland through our menus.
