A lovely experience from start to finish. This is a small and cosy restaurant with a very personal feel to it - rather like having supper at a friend’s home. We were greeted and brought to our table immediately. All the food was delicious and beautifully cooked and presented. Our waiter brought out an array of the fish on offer and explained how it would be cooked. Although this is not a cheap option there are set menus that are very reasonable and the food is so good it’s worth paying for!

Lately I find it difficult to rate my eating experiences as excellent so imagine my surprise when quite accidentally I ended up at a dinner at the lobster pot and can honestly say it was the best dining experience I have had in a decade. I come from New York City so that is saying a lot. the quality and preparation of the food which included fresh oysters, lobster, shrimp was superb . It was beautifully presented and the attention to even the smallest detail was there. The desert (which we selected creme brûlée) was so good. Even the cocktails were beautifully made. Last but not least was the service....I would give it 6 stars if I could! I would eat there everyday if I could and I loved that it was an established restaurant without the nonsense that has nothing to do with great food and service. Im going back again before I leave. Go upstairs when you go through the door!!

Definitely the best fish restaurant in Dublin. Truly superb food in a very comfortable, old-fashioned setting. I have been coming here for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Head waiter Michael is a thorough professional and his pre-meal display of raw seafood to aid selection is quite unique.

I am a TOP REVIEW WRITER ( over 400 reviews worldwide so reasonable to assume my a reviews are objective ) frequently came on business meals - main pluses was quiet environment in the restaurant; great service and good food . Today we come with with family member and very disappointing. Service was slow - had to ASK for the ‘early bird menu ‘ - WHY ? We were there an hour before the latest time ?? In fact we even had to ask for a menu !! Considering most of my reviews are vey good / excellent ( don’t want to go where the food / service are not good ) but this evening it was very bad ? Mild for saying disastrous )!! Worse mussels in a long time - were they even fresh fresh ! Pate definitely worst than Dunnes Stores at 25 % of the price; goujons of sole -.was it even sole ?? Wine expensive.. says it all . Take me a lot of persuasion to go again . This is against the last visit which was ok 👌!

The Lobster Pot is located in Ballsbridge. The service is very good and there are plenty of non fish / seafood items. The grapefruit starter is nice and the meats all good. Recommeded.

An Enjoyable Dining Experience to Remember. The welcome was immediate and the room oozed charm. The staff were professional and courteous, and Michael was the star performer. His guidance through the menu with his trolly was unique and enlightening. The selection of dishes and the quality was great. Will return. Do book as in high demand Well done Lobster Pot.

We are visiting Ireland from the USA and having a great, fun, informative visit. After a disappointing meal last night we wanted a really good one tonight. And we wanted seafood. The unprepossessingly named Lobster Pot was our choice. This is a must go to restaurant!!! Elegant. Sophisticated. Highly professional staff. Exquisitely prepared, sublimely cooked and seasoned dishes. Before going I was hoping to have either lobster or sole. The special turned out to be a half lobster with sole and shrimp! We will be back and you should go.

We had a really excellent meal. Michael explained all the special dishes and how each one was cooked. He was really helpful and described each dish really well. The service was excellent, everyone was so friendly and understanding. This was one of the best meals we have had in Ireland and we have just finished driving round the whole coast. Well worth a visit

Rubbish from start to finish. If its bland bread with rock hard butter, or undercooked fish with raw vegetables, zero service from waiters who clearly dont understand Englush, or maby you would just like a 30 minute wait for desert from a sweet trolly.I walked out without having any.Well then this is the place for you. I overheard they have the same chef for 40 years well maby it's time for him to retire as his cookery skill has definitely diminished. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

We ate here and really it was fabulous. Everything was cooked to order and the bread and starters were superb. Husband had a fish dish that he hadn’t seen cooked as such for many years. I had chicken which was gorgeous. What was extraordinary was that the meal was served with three different types of potato and three separate vegetables. Afterwards there was a desert trolley with fabulous deserts and I chose the pavlova which was gorgeous. Haven’t seen a desert trolley in a while. We had a lovely table with table cloth, napkins and fresh flowers. The glassware, table lanterns and cutlery were beautiful. The service was outstanding and all four waiters actually served us. Each of them so polite. One gentleman told us the chef is there 40 years since they opened.!! What a record and clearly still takes pride on his job as the first day he started. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

We were excited to visit this restaurant as we had tried to get reservations previously and it was full. When we did go, it ended up being one of our best dining experiences - in no small part because of Michael who treated us to spectacular service and general patter worthy of a stand up comedian. His Irish wit shone through as we encouraged and appreciated his fine storytelling. The rest of the staff (particularly Tristan) were also delightful and attentive to our needs. We loved the old world setting reminiscent of a time gone by and the seafood (lobster, prawns, sole) was impeccably prepared and gently seasoned by the chef. I'd highly recommend this restaurant as an experience not to be missed.
