If you like the idea of having a few small dishes and fab tasty ethnic food then this is the place to go, you can also have main course to yourself I think but I went for the 'tapas' style an they were just amazing, we had the seafood selection and every bite was a taste explosion, highly recommend.

The concept of a tasting menu is something that doesn't particularly appeal to me usually, though I certainly appreciated it on this occasion as I was able to sample a lot of different items from a cuisine which is not very common in Dublin. The food was very tasty we enjoyed the atmosphere was good. I would certainly recommend the... More

This was an interesting restaurant to visit. We made a late reservation and so were only offered a "standard table" upstairs, for the slightly elder guest this is probably a good idea as the low tables with cushions look very sexy but are possibly not the easiest to use. The table was a little small once all the food arrived... More

I wanted something a bit different to the good craic and pub food (see bad bobs for that - great too). This place is "cosy" meaning that you feel a little like you're eating with your table neighbours when full - and it was when we visited. Food is like Indonesian tapas set menus - good, varied, well cooked tasty... More

I'm vegetarian so was delighted to see a veggie option on the set menu. My partner had the pre-theatre and we both really enjoyed our food, it was fresh, tasty and just enough in terms of portion size. Our only gripe was the fact that the waiter confused my partners order and so I had finished my food before my... More

Thank you for your lovely word about our food, we are so happy you appreciate the effort we make, sometimes we make errors and apologies about the problem with the order, you should have been given a drink or discount, we have some new people and I will ensure their training is up to our standard in the future. Went here with my partner tonight. We are both Dutch with Indonesian descent, so we eat this kind of food a lot (and make it ourselves ofcourse). This restaurant had so many good reviews, we thought we'd give it a try. When we came in, they asked if we made reservations. We didn't, but we could eat here if we... More

Thank you for giving us a try and yes, you are right, we are not Dutch nor Indonesian, we are Irish and are passionate about food, travel and spices. You had the early bird which is a mini rijst-tafel and at €17.95 for 3 dishes plus condiments is an introduction to rijst-tafel for our customers. We make all our spice... More

We booked a table for a Friday night in early January after reading all the positive reviews on TA. Food was indeed tasty, although some of the small 'taster' dishes could have used some extra seasoning. No worries, the host provided us with some fresh spices and sauces to do this ourselves. There are some interesting dishes on the 'rijsttafel'... More

Thank you for your review and we are happy you enjoyed the meal. A hell of a lot of manhours goes into preparing our dishes, this pushes the price upwards, if we simply opened a tin of sauce and heated it up we could serve cheap food. This would go against all we believe in. We do however offer a... More

My friend and I went for an amazing evening meal to the Chameleon. We were a group of 20 (two teachers and 18 students) and were given a wonderful private room. We informed Kate about the budget we had available and they went out of their way to give us only the best and more than enough of it after... More

This restaurant is one of the best I have been to - I booked online via their website for dinner on our honeymoon and all aspects from start to finish were impeccable. The service is friendly and 5*, the surroundings and ambience in the restaurant were perfect. The other diners consisted of mainly couples but there was also a party... More

Description
Chameleon in Temple Bar is an intimate, ambient restaurant that specialises in Indonesian rice-table. Rice table (or rijst-tafel) is when the diner is served an array of sumptuous different dishes, at the same time, from confit of pork belly with star anise to free range chicken satay to our delicious desserts, all made in-house! Its almost like Indonesian tapas!Since opening in 1994, its owners, husband and wife team, Carol & Kevin have made a point in using as much locally sourced Irish produce as possible, including only using free range Irish chicken and locally caught, seasonal Irish fish.Chameleon is ideal for a romantic get together or indeed, for your birthday party or Christmas party, as they can cater for groups of up to 40 in our private dining rooms.Winning may awards over the years in 2013 the Chameleon was voted Best World Cuisine in Ireland by the highly acclaimed Restaurants Association of Ireland
