We booked in advance to make sure we got in, but the restaurant 'misplaced' our booking. They ended up accommodating us, but it wasn't a great start. The drinks were ok - overpriced but that was expected. The quality of the food varied - some dishes were very good, but we ordered a dragon roll where the tempura king prawns... More

Genuine fresh fish - service is efficient. Canteen style tables. You can see into the kitchen at the end of the room. It's sushi is the best. Just watch the black rice when giving your order they ask if you want white or black and its more expensive.

I really like Yamamori it's got a nice feel to it and looks really interesting when you enter enticing you to investigate more. I went in with a friend on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but not too noisey. The food is really varied but would suit lots of people. I had a wonderful chicken dish served in... More

Stumbled across this place... big queue outside so figured it must be good. We were seated immediately at the bar and got served some delicious cocktails by Josh. Great service, super delicious Dim Sum and the freshest Sushi. All the staff seemed really bubbly and smiley. Would defo recommend.

I had heard a lot of hype about Izakaya, and have long been a fan of Yamamori's other venues, plus on this particular day I was bleedin' starving - so a lot hinged on this meal. Now in it's fifth year of being, the venue has been blazing a steady trail on the Dublin dining scene. Slap bang in epicentre... More

This place is amazing. If people rave about Yo Sushi they clearly haven't been here! The food is so fresh and tasty. Portions are a good size, prices are reasonable and the food is just amazing. By far the best Japanese I've had.

I really liked this place - and its all down to how they turned an Irish pub into a Asian restaurant. Rather than gut the interior, clever stylistic tricks - Balinese carvings attached to matching coloured original wooden pillars; Asian posters stuck on paneling; dim sum steamers used as lamp shades - made this place feel old and new; Irish... This was our first visit to yamamori and I had wanted to catch them while still open. We arrived ten minutes before closing but we're seated happy to have caught them as the yamamori up the road had locked their doors . We ordered traditional octopus balls , pork belly Kim chee (I think), a serving of the salmon and... More

After a long day, a group of my colleagues decided to take a local's advice and visit this restaurant. We each got a Noramaki roll and shared our selections. The sushi was good quality and priced well, but nothing ground-breaking or creative. It was a little loud as well, but the ambience was nice and we had a good time.

YAMAMORI IZAKAYA, located at 12-13 South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2, in what was originally Ireland's very first cafe. This old Bewleys building boasts original oriental style decor with a twist. Enjoy the 1940's Chinese and Japanese beer ads and movie posters with a great Asian beer or rice wine, and try our dublin famous homemade Izakaya burger. After your meal we have a lounge downstairs where you can catch a nice Izakaya Lycee cocktail, and enjoy some modern sounds from Dublin's up and coming DJ's.

Downstairs is a Japanese style drinking house, serving small Japanese style pub food dishes with great Japanese whiskeys, beers and sake.

Come for food or drinks, chill out and listen to some urban lounge deep and soul tunes.

The Izakaya has a retro easy going atmosphere and is open 7 days a week from 17:30 and is available for private bookings.
