We went there with a wedding party: we had a reservation and we were seated upstairs, near the window where it was comfortable and nice. The staff was nice, really friendly and quick, the food amazing and the drinks perfect. The fish and chips is really good and so is the rhubarb crumble.

Just had a lovely refreshing break with my 2 sons in the Oval bar. On a hot sunny day it was a great place to relax chill out and have a refreshing drink. The staff are very pleasant and we all enjoyed the atmosphere of this wonderful old bar.

We recently tried The Oval Bar based on a recommendation from a local and it was a great experience. Lots of space on multiple floors and a very lively atmosphere. It's a nice break from the other pubs we'd seen.

Love the bar. Great service and staff.table service and decent clientele also.it's a cosy corner pub full of little nooks and snugs . Toilet downstairs. Good mix of visitors and regulars alike. My wife and I come here after work as often as we can. It's a great place to meet and catch up with old friends

Nice atmosphere, great little pub, dead centre in Dublin. Some locals, some tourists. Outdoor area was in demand due to the warm dry day. Filled with tables and full of people. Tiny indoors and outdoors. Full of ambience though!

We had the opportunity of watching sports whilst the wives went shopping on around O'Connell Street and were lucky enough to find this little gem just off the main area. When we entered there were a number off screens around the ground floor area, which wasn't a huge area, but no real seats. The bar man was superb. Sit at... More

My friend John and I retired to the Oval bar for a pint or two while our wives shopped. We were looking for a "properly historic Irish bar", and stumbled over this one. It is old - 19th century. It was burned down during the 1916 rising, and there are some photos of this inside. Great beers (try Galloway Hooker),... More

We were walking around O'Connell street and turned down Abbey looking for a place for lunch. We were very lucky to find The Oval Bar. Downstairs it is a beautiful bar with many locals enjoying their lunch and a pint. Upstairs is the dining area. The server was friendly although not very attentive. The food was typical pub food and... More

One of my favourite Dublin pubs. Nice and small and they play the news at lunchtime. The staff aren't too social but the beer and food is of great value.

This pub was great, the service was outstanding. We were a group of 9 and they went out of their way to accommodate us. It was very much appreciated! The food was better than an average pub, I really enjoyed it! The beers were great and the atmosphere was fun! Check it out, it's just around the corner from O'Connell... More

Description
The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart of Dublin City on Middle Abbey Street. Housed within a beautiful Victorian building with most of its period features still intact, The Oval is the perfect place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city outside and provides a haven of welcome and warmth for local office workers on lunch, busy shoppers looking to recharge their batteries, visiting tourists looking for the 'Craic' and music, cinema and theatre goers looking for a bite to eat and a drink before or after their show. Once our patrons step inside our doors they experience the relaxed and convivial nature of our charming pub, our Staff are welcoming and friendly and will ensure that everyone's stay is a pleasant one. With over 3 floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities available to rent we can accommodate any size group. We also have an outdoor seating area for those lazy Dublin summer evenings. Our kitchen serves a full menu daily with Traditional Irish Stew being one of our specialities! The Oval has long been renowned as an exceptional place to watch 'the match', we show all the major sporting events on our wide screen LCD TVs and has also a great atmosphere for pre or post match celebrations for patrons going to and from Croke Park. The Oval - home of the best Pint of Guinness in Dublin!
