We had the opportunity of watching sports whilst the wives went shopping on around O'Connell Street and were lucky enough to find this little gem just off the main area. When we entered there were a number off screens around the ground floor area, which wasn't a huge area, but no real seats. The bar man was superb. Sit at... More

We were walking around O'Connell street and turned down Abbey looking for a place for lunch. We were very lucky to find The Oval Bar. Downstairs it is a beautiful bar with many locals enjoying their lunch and a pint. Upstairs is the dining area. The server was friendly although not very attentive. The food was typical pub food and... More

One of my favourite Dublin pubs. Nice and small and they play the news at lunchtime. The staff aren't too social but the beer and food is of great value.

This pub was great, the service was outstanding. We were a group of 9 and they went out of their way to accommodate us. It was very much appreciated! The food was better than an average pub, I really enjoyed it! The beers were great and the atmosphere was fun! Check it out, it's just around the corner from O'Connell... More

Enjoyed a lovely pint of the black stuff here. The bar staff were really friendly as were many of the customers.

Went there with a friend. We ordered the wings, fish and chips and roast chicken. By far, the roast chicken was the best! It even came with gravy. The waitress was so friendly and attentive too!

Visited lunchtime June 16. Food was fine but the attitude of our waiter was totally unacceptable. We were meeting a friend for lunch and had our two year old with us. We tried to keep him amused by blowing up two balloons but were sharply told by our waiter "no more of those in here". Feeling chastised we continued with... More

Popped in for a quick drink on my way to the airport. Located right off O'Connell Street, this place was destroyed in the 1916 Rising and subsequently rebuilt. Good Guinness at €4.75 a pint.

We were only in Dublin for a week, and every day we visited a different pub for lunch and dinner, but The Oval was the only place we went to TWICE. The Beef and Guinness Pie and the Irish Stew were particularly delicious, so much flavour! The service was also outstanding. We were a group of 10 so there was... More

My first port of call whilst on a trip to Dublin. The Guinness is served with love to perfection. It also turned out to be the cheapest I paid. Friendly staff and located just off O'Connell Street.

Description
The Oval Bar is an authentic Irish Pub situated idyllically in the heart of Dublin City on Middle Abbey Street. Housed within a beautiful Victorian building with most of its period features still intact, The Oval is the perfect place to escape from the hectic hustle and bustle of the city outside and provides a haven of welcome and warmth for local office workers on lunch, busy shoppers looking to recharge their batteries, visiting tourists looking for the 'Craic' and music, cinema and theatre goers looking for a bite to eat and a drink before or after their show. Once our patrons step inside our doors they experience the relaxed and convivial nature of our charming pub, our Staff are welcoming and friendly and will ensure that everyone's stay is a pleasant one. With over 3 floors of seating and a large function area with its own private bar facilities available to rent we can accommodate any size group. We also have an outdoor seating area for those lazy Dublin summer evenings. Our kitchen serves a full menu daily with Traditional Irish Stew being one of our specialities! The Oval has long been renowned as an exceptional place to watch 'the match', we show all the major sporting events on our wide screen LCD TVs and has also a great atmosphere for pre or post match celebrations for patrons going to and from Croke Park. The Oval - home of the best Pint of Guinness in Dublin!
