Upon arrival we couldn’t sit inside as I had forgot my licence for photo Id even though we both had our vaccine passport which is fair enough. Although outside we felt the tables were sitting too close to other tables. I had to ask twice for a straw and it was given to another table. Eventually the waitress came down with one and had handled it with her hands with no napkin like on other restaurants we had been in previous. The chicken burger was delicious however the chips tasted like they were warmed or double fried and therefore a little soggy. A little disappointed

Dakota is a beautiful bar located in a lovely part of the city centre. The interior looks very atmospheric and cosy. The lights and furniture are beautiful and it would be a lovely place for a few drinks with a date. We had lunch here on a Saturday and sat outdoors in a small area along the street - great for people watching. Tables are a bit close together and seats are rather uncomfortable but there is a marquee and plastic screens so it's warm and sheltered from wind and rain. We had 2 mains and 2 drinks: Dakota Superfood Salad, Fish & Chips, a beer and a green tea – just under 40eur altogether. Beer and fish with mushy peas were very good. The chips were not great though. The Superfood Salad was disappointing. It was mostly a big bundle of rocket leaves with a scattering of ingredients of dubious freshness: dried up chickpeas, a a sprinkling of quinoa, faded pomegranate seeds and a few bits of sweet potato that I actually had to spit out into a napkin (!) because it tasted sour like it had fermented. My tea tasted strongly of chlorinated tap water – I wish they used filtered water for their hot beverages. I'd say stick to beers and cocktails! On a positive note the staff were superfriendly and courteous.

Nice lunch

We had a nice lunch eating starters. They were big plates and we really didn’t feel ordering anything else. The carrot soup was lovely, sweet potatoes really tasty and the Caesar salad very nice. Price surprisingly honest for being in the center of Dublin

Disappointing

Had a lovely meal here this evening although the service was slow. Got presented with the bill for €197.75, I asked to add tip to the bill and if they could take €210 in total, when presented with the card machine it said £186 which I presumed the waitress had put in the conversion… when I checked my Revolut it said €220 so I called back the waitress and she replied ‘I’m told to charge in pounds so that’s your problem for paying with Revolut’ I never instructed the waitress to charge in pounds and would have presumed she would have charged in euro as we are in a Euro country. On speaking with the manager I received the €10 back in cash although I am disappointed as I fear this will be happening to many other customers without them knowing. Although we had a lovely meal here this evening I will not be returning as I am sceptical about how they are charging their customers and how many customers will be over charged without even knowing… if I had have paid with any other card I would not have known so quickly and would not have been able to rectify the problem!

Disappointing to say the least

My Wife and I visited for a pre theatre cocktail and food and initially we were impressed by this place. Upon arrival we were seated quickly with the relevant Covid precautions checked so at least from that point they were OK. Then it went down hill fast… First we asked for a Porn Star Martini and what we received was almost pure lemon juice. Lemon Juice has no place in a Porn Star Martini. It was vile and undrinkable. We ordered the Fish n chips thinking what could possibly go wrong? Well the “Home made tarter sauce” was pretty well just mayonnaise and lacking in flavour. The chips tasted stale and the fish was bone dry and tasteless. Much like the cocktail the dish was vile and both of us left half the dish as it was inedible. No one came to check midway into meal to ask if we where happy with meal so I’m guessing the staff knew food and drinks was vile so knew better then to ask! On a mildly positive note the Guinness I had was ok although the head was close if not over the recommended 12-18mm head but hey after the dry fish and chips I needed it to wash taste down. I did complain about cocktail stating it was clearly not a Porn Star Martini and they did remove it from the bill. Shame because initially we liked the place but the food, drinks and service was drastically lacking so I’m afraid it’s a solid 1 star from me.

Disaster at Dakota

Booked a table for 4 for dinner and drinks a week in advance for a party of 4 at 8 pm on Saturday night,contacted 3 times once in person by a Sales and Marketing Administrator about confirming and at NO point told that the kitchen/menu closed at 8pm, on arrival again no mention of it until we asked for Menus..... The whole reason for booking was for dinner and left stranded for food as no where available to book at 8pm on a Sat night.. Would definitely not recommend to anyone unless you’re interested in posting pictures of cocktails on Instagram.Customers coming in with no masks and asking for ones there,tables not cleaned correctly and staff pulling down/ touching their masks .. Completely ruined our evening as would have booked an early time or in hindsight a completely different restaurant...

Tastes Amazing

Definitely would go again. The food tastes great, but the chicken wings are a bit spicy. The burgers are utterly DIVINE. I tell you, it is the eigth wonder of the world. If you were wondering, it's a bar, they serve all manner of drinks! I had my meal outside, but it still tastes great! The staff there were very nice, and if you don't want what you've ordered, they will remove it from the bill, so you don't have to worry about paying for what you didn't like. I've never dined in this restraunt before, but I can tell when I'll be going back!

I met with a large group of friends here for early evening drinks. This place is somewhere you could easily walk by, but since discovering it a couple of years ago, it’s a place I really look forward to visiting. As a pub, it’s so spacious , the staff are super professional and courteous, the decor is modern but warm, and the toilets are very well kept and can cater easily for lots of people. Cleanliness is something that strikes me about this place, from the glasses to the premises, you can see it’s well run. Most importantly though, the atmosphere here is so relaxed. We arrived in Dakota early evening and the music only really started about 10pm I’d say, or it was low, so conversation was flowing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone arranging a have a get together. For a city centre location , the space is amazing. The clientele are similarly relaxed trendy and happy. What’s not to like.. 5 stars all round!!! If you’re not familiar with the location , it’s opposite the exit to Brown Thomas car park, close to Grafton St, Wicklow St and George’s St.

Poor staff and cold food

It was my birthday, so myself and 2 friends from work went for dinner to Dakota. We were greeted alright, brought to the table and ordered drinks. After we got the drinks, it seemed that staff forgot about us, so it took a good bit of waiving for someone to come to the table to order food. It wasn’t even too busy, however, we waited for food well over 40mins for 2 portions of chicken wings, 2 fries and a burger. To our disappointment, chicken wings came cold. At that stage we were too hungry and said nothing. But even if we wanted say something, there was nobody to say it to. Not a single staff member came to our table to ask if the food was okay. Also, they slapped 10% service charge (we were party of 3, I have never seen a service charge added for such small party) to our bill but the girls paid for it as it was part of my birthday present. I just feel sorry for not having complained, it was by far the worse dinner experience. We won’t be coming back.

Good atmosphere

Went looking for dinner , a drink and to watch the rugby last weekend . This was the place for it all . Staff were attentive . The food was good . I had the veg salad and rosemary and Parmesan fries . I would have preferred fresh grated Parmesan instead of powdered Parmesan and the rosemary chopped instead of picked pieces but it was still good . ( its a personal thing) Atmosphere was nice and relaxed .

No time for customers

Myself and a friend had to cancel a booking and I called up the bar the day of the booking to ask if it was possible to reschedule the booking for the following weekend. On the phone I was told there was no available tables for the following weekend so I went and cancelled the booking. I was aware of the 24hour cancellation policy of €10 per person for no show, but I was told on the phone by the member of staff that I would not be charged. Two days later €20 was taken out of my account and I tried email and resolve the issue. After many emails back and forth, and explaining numerous of times to them that I was advised by a member of their staff that I would not be charge, I was passed onto the financial department. I received a voicemail from the woman who worked in the financial department apologising for this but nothing can be done as this is the policy. I called back to see if anything could be done but she said unfortunately nothing can be done. I tried suggest even a credit of €20 for the next time we attend the bar but she was no way helpful at all and didn't try resolve this or see where I was coming from. Again, I tried to state that I was told by the member of staff that this was all taken care of and that I wouldn't be charged. She then stated on the phone that the member of staff was let go becuase they kept making allot of these errors. Is this not more evidence that this was their fault and not mine?? As I said numerous of times in the emails back and forth to the customer service team, I was 100% aware of the 24hr cancellation policy but I was told by a member of their staff I would not be charged! If we were still going to be charged we would have attended that night. This is the issue. We are being charged for an error made by their staff. I'm extremely upset by this, not by the €20, the €20 can be donated to a good cause, its more the treatment of a customer by the financial department and being out of €20 for no fault of ours. Like I said above, we were told we would not be charged. I look forward to a response because the lady (who I won't name) in the financial department just hung up on me and said she hasn't got time for this/me. She was extremely rude and I would like this to be seen because its not fair how I was spoken to and I would like it to be noticed. Thank you Thank you

Shocking female bar staff behaviour

I never leave places bad reviews but was shocked with the behaviour of one member of staff so felt it was necessary. My boyfriend, 2 sisters and my brother in law went to Dakota for drinks on a Saturday in September, I had been before a few years ago and always really liked the place and had suggested we go there. We were all really impressed and complementing everything to one another until it came to paying the bill. A waitress in her early twenties with a short black Bob took our bill-€179.90, I asked could I pay by card and the bill was €180 to round it up. She mocked me and asked if my tip of 10 cent was actually a joke and called me out on it twice in front of everyone.. she then stormed off with a sulk on her face and refused to bring us down our last round! I was left short for words and mortified! Will not be returning

Unpleasant experience

We went to this place on the November 4th around 1pm to celebrate my husband's birthday. My mother in law asked for the curry and the waiter asked if it was with chicken. They didn't understand and the waiter needed to explain. The explanation was not good and they hadn't understand yet, the waiter took a very loud breath and was very rude explaining again. Then we could hear and see him from our table in the bar talking to other waitress and make fun about the situation. He didn't even try to talk low. Also, food was tasteles, the curry was soo spicy and the waiter didn't say anything about how spicy it is. I'll never go back to this place.

It started as a 4star to a drastic 1 star. (Yuck!)

My first -and most likely last - time at this pub after seeing the most disgusting thing. Me and my friend were having a good time when we noticed that near us someone left an unfinished whiskey on the counter. One of the staff came with a new order and much to my disbelief I saw the barman (the one who spends the night vaping behind the bar) taking this whiskey, toping it up and give it to the perplexed waiter. I first thought that I was imagining things, but when I saw the waiter checking the glass as one would do to see lip marks and then pouring it into a different glass I was certain of what I saw. Someone who does this so publicly shows the utterly lack of respect and consideration for the client, not to mention how unsanitary and dangerous this could be. What if someone had spiked the drink? I don't write this with a light spirit, however I do believe this is an unacceptable behaviour that should be brought to your attention. A cocktail bar in the heart of the city which such extensive and expensive menu should have the minimum standards! Shame.

Great Staff! Jessica is the best!

We had THE BEST time at Dakota yesterday celebrating our friend's birthday. Great food and cocktails, but what made the night special was the service. A shoutout to Jessica, a waitress who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, even got a birthday brownie with a message in Portuguese to our friend. She even got a piece of passion fruit for our friend's daughter, who was craving for a bite after seeing it on top of a cocktail. We will definitely be back!
