A great traditional pub

We stopped off for lunch here before visiting Glasnevin cemetery and we were glad we did. The pub has a really traditional feel about it. There are two bars, one of which has tables for dining. I cant quite tell you why I love this place so much but I truly do. I've been coming here for on and off 20 years and will continue to pop by every so often. Its quite hard to find unless you've been here before so satnav it or ask a local. The craic here is always 90. Every time... More

Called in for a quick pint while out walking the dog with a friend (not a euphemism hahaha). It was the afternoon so we were the only people there, but that suited us. Great pint of Guinness, friendly Italian barman, righted all the world's wrongs between, nothing like a bit of Friday afternoon barstool philosophy. First went here nearly 20 years ago,& glad... More

Stumbled across this bud when my sister and I were lost and recognised it from reviews on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed by any means. the food was tasty and filling while the stag were friendly and attentive. The pub itself was beautiful!

After the cemetery tour we decided to pop in to The Gravedigger for a quick drink. Best decision we made all trip! Dublin has friendly folk but this place takes the cake. Upon entering and ordering a drink, talking openly with bar staff about the history, we were fortunate enough to have the recent owner, 7th generation Kavanagh, overhear and... More

Stopped by for a pint after we checked out the cemetery next door. It's a couple hundred years old, no TV's or music, but neat nonetheless. Very authentic, and very old. Stop by for a pint if you go to the cemetery next door. Didn't eat so no comment on their food.

After eleven years living in Oz, this is exactly the type of pub/restaurant that you pine after when living abroad! Even though I grew up in the area, I had never been...until this year. Since then, I've eaten here (food is excellent value, 'irish portion' tapas and a great variety) and it has become my go-to local for a few... More

Have been a few times. Last time after a lovely afternoon in the Botanic Gardens and a tour at Glasnevin cemetery. Best Guinness in Dublin. Always a great atmosphere.

Sometimes things just go together so well. A brisk walk to the cemetery from the city centre on a cold winters day. An excellent guided tour of the cemetery, then off to The Gravediggers for a warm welcome, a super smooth pint of Guinness (or two or three) alongside a steaming bowl of cockle warming coddle (as pictured above). Recharged... More
