Good few tourists visiting this place so decided to visit myself as i am new enough to the area. Lovely atmosphere and the guinness is great. Went in for 1 ended having 4. I was served by a lovely young lad think he was the owners son. He loved a chat! I would go back just to chat to him.

Went to the pub in the evening to have a drink. It was buzzing. There was a great atmosphere. The right part - usually the restaurant part - was a bit quieter, so we sat down there and enjoyed our pint. Did you know that the pub has been in the same family for over 180 years? The left side,... More

This place is a very pleasant hospitable establishment family run very much from the front . Very attentive people who genuinely care about their customers and seem to be a significant social support to many of their customers . Food run by son very good name and hard to get a seat / table in evenings . Well worth visiting... More

John Kavanagh, the gravediggers, is a real Irish pub. Near Glasnevin Cemetery. No words needed. Enjoy.

Food brilliant. Service fantastic. Friendly staff and owner... Amazing history. A hidden gem. When I visit glasnevin I always call into the gravediggers even just for a coffee and bun! No messers in this pub just a class family run pub who put emphasis on customer service every time. Thanks Ciaran!

Stopped off for two pints here recently and loved the atmosphere, the Guinness and the setting. It was late -ish on a Friday night, and it was busy and buzzing. I was in the old part (the left) and didnt get to check out the other side. Apparently the food is v good here too. We drank one pint standing... More

So excited to visit John Kavanaugh's. As a taphophile (a person how appreciates the art in cemeteries) I had long heard of "Gravediggers Pub". We were lucky enough to visit Glasnevin Cemetery in October of 2016. Where else would we have lunch but the Gravediggers? The staff greeted us with smiles and warmth. We sat at a cozy little table... This was the first stop after landing in Dublin. The bartender gave some great advice for general Irish etiquette and poured a perfect Guiness. The food wasn't bad either.
