We were disappointed in this trip to the Cellar restaurant in the Merrion hotel - it just didn't live up to their normal standards. We did our normal thing of 2 starters and 1 or 2 puddings The first course - seared tuna and Crab Crème Brulee were good, then things started to go wrong - I ordered the boar... More

As the Patrick Giulbaud restaurant was closed (till November) we went to the cellar. Unfortunately all the dishes were heavy handed and over rich. Crab Brulee was a creamy mush of crab covered with a thick Parmesan crisp. The wild boar croquette was nice but not great. The beef main was nothing to write home about.

The Cellar restaurant and bar has a great atmosphere and the staff are excellent. We found the service to be the best we experienced in Dublin. While the restaurant is not cheap the quality of the food was fantastic, it was so good that out of 3 nights we went twice. You can also choose to eat off the restaurant... More

We had dinner here last night. Location is perfect because we are guests in the hotel. Service and hospitality were professional. Food was good, but not special. A very solid choice if in the Merrion Square neighborhood. Expensive.

We had a wonderful evening in the restaurant as the drinks and atmosphere were great but that was as far as it went. Food was only ok, I was very disappointed as the menu read so well but failed in taste. Starters at €22.00 for deep fat fried scallop and sardine, not great. Mains was nice but nothing to rave... We booked for the first night in Dublin as we knew we would have jet lag and were staying upstairs at the Merrion. Had a wonderful meal with excellent service. I see that the restaurant is a "Certificate of excellence" honoree, which implies that the reviews are pretty consistently positive, but surprised it does not rank higher. Perhaps that is... More

I ate here on my birthday with my husband, the service, food, atmosphere was 10/10. Our meal was delicious with some nice touches, my only reason for not giving 5 stars is what my husband mentioned after the meal. He booked online and requested that they bring out a candle in my dessert as it was my birthday, he also... More

Dropped in here without a reservation on our last night in Dublin, but given table by friendly, efficient staff and had great meal. Good range of choices for food & drink and the setting in the old cellars gives nice atmosphere.

Before our room was ready we had a spot of lunch in the restaurant. The food was superb. This is not a budget nor even mid range lunch. A children's sausage and beans and an adult burger with two coca colas was around 40 euros. That being said we were not disappointed. Burger was cooked perfectly to medium rare and... More

Of all the fish and chips in Dublin - this was up there at the top! Breakfast was great everyday. The restaurant is separate from the bar - but both were great.
