I am very allergic to bell peppers; the symptoms are like food poisoning (vomiting, diarrhea, acute cramps) and last a day to several days depending on the quantify ingested. I explained my allergy and asked the waitress to please check with the kitchen as to...whether there were bell peppers in the food I ordered -- seafood chowder and fish cakes. She returned and said the food was free of bell peppers. Sure enough, as I got home I ran to the bathroom where I spent most of the evening and early morning. It let up a bit in the afternoon, but I still had to stay close to a bathroom. This is not a place I would recommend.More

Wow wow wow love the Irish hospitality :) I had the soup leek and potato mmmm and then mains I opted for the specials beef stroganoff ! I was hungry and it was amazing ! I was stuffed tighter than a turkey and hated handed...over the unfinished plate !! While touring Ireland, we had dinner here. We had to wait to get seated, but was able to hang out at the bar. By the time we were seated, we were getting close to their 8pm closing time. After we finished it was challenging to...get out bill because everyone was tending to cleaning up since it was now after 8:30. Had the most wonderful experience in The Old Castle Bar on Monday night. We were a group of 8 with no booking but the most welcoming staff did everything to accommodate us that we could sit together even tho the restaurant was full. The order...was taking by a wonderful waitress Grace who was friendly professional and knew her menu and job so well. The service was excellent. The food arrived piping hot and delicious. It was my friends birthday and they put a candle in her dessert and the all sang Happy birthday even the Chef came out to join in the song, I have worked in hospitality for over 20 years and I could see that The Olde Castle staff are a Team and work very well together, but 10 out of 10 for Grace who made our evening most enjoyable with brilliant service and welcoming smile. I hope the owners and management know what wonderful staff they have. 100% will be back and would recommend itMore

We had a wonderful meal in the bar with very substantial portions. The seafood platter was amazing and the cheese board was enough for 4 people. Guinness was pretty good as well and the staff very friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

The old bar has a pleasant inside atmosphere. The staff was attentive. Our appetiser was exceptional: goat cheese crouton. However, our main meals were good but overpriced. The specials were also overpriced IMO with the Monk Fish priced at 30 euro. Before 17.00hrs. they apparently...offer sandwiches that get high reviews but unfortunately we dined late.More
